"Maliah, I was pregnant

"Maliah, I was pregnant."

I didn't know that. "I don't understand what that has to do with anything." I state.

My mother moves to sit on the sofa in my room, I follow after her, knowing that this is probably going to be a long conversation.

"22 years ago we were at war with the Gyoplians. When I found out I was pregnant with you. Your father and I promised to make this world better for you no matter what it took. There was no place in war for a child."

"So what did you do?" I ask.

"We made a deal. It turns out the queen of Gyopl was also pregnant. There was only one possible way for peace and we took it to save not only our children but our people who trust us with their lives."

"Arranged marriage." I state, knowing where this is going. I still refuse to marry him though, I love Niko and I wouldn't put him in that position.

"Yes. To merge our kingdoms together and the only fair way to do it was through our children. I didn't want to have to make that choice for you but it was the only way to guarantee your safety."

"So what went wrong?" I ask. "Why were we at war again by the time I was 13?"

The deal stood and all was fine until I got pregnant again."

"I don't understand."

"You were meant to take the throne and so was William. The terms of our agreement were that you would both rule together. There was uproar when people found out of my pregnancy. If I was having a boy, that would make him the ruler over you."

"That's such bulshit."

My mom gives me a look. "You're a princess, you shouldn't be swearing."

"I'm sure you can let it slide."

"It is bulshit, but that's the way it is right now, we didn't even think of changing the rule but by then it was too late." She tells me. "Once you're Queen, though, that can change."

"Once I'm Queen? Does that mean you didn't have a boy?"

"I had a girl." She states.

"What did you name her?"

"Lilah."

"Is- is she still...."

"Yeah, she's good." My mom states. "But when they first got wind that I was pregnant, they didn't care about the treaty. They were going after anyone and anything. Some of our own people even started going against us for breaking the terms of the agreement and thus starting the war over again. They claimed we were making loopholes and everywhere was in shambles. I considered giving up the baby, but it was too late. The damage had already been done." She continues. "They started bombing, rioting and destroying the planet, so we sent you to earth so you would be safe. That way, if you chose to come back, you could reclaim the throne years later."
