"So you can like move water with your powers?" Jameson (one of the twins) asks.

"Pretty much, yeah." I state, crossing my legs while I'm sat on the mattress, mirroring his position. "I can move like everything that contains water."

"How about cordial juice?" Josh (the other twin) asks, holding a cup of blackcurrant in his hand.

Instead of answering, I use my mind to levitate his juice straight up into the air. "Why don't you look for yourself?" I reply, motioning with my head to the levitating liquid.

The twins turn their heads in unison.

"Woah." They both gasp.

I see Niko coming our way, so I quickly drop the juice back into the cup and act normal.

"What are you guys doing?" He asks.

"Nothing." I say quickly, before Josh or Jameson can speak.

He kisses me on the cheek. "You're meant to be resting." He says knowingly.

Busted.

"I am. See." I say, laying down on one of the many beds.

"You know that's not what I mean." He states.

I sit back up. "A little levitating water never killed anybody. I hope." I add on the end.

"We need to stick to the plan." He says.

"I know." I tell him before retelling the plan. "I need to save up my energy and my powers for when we rescue the hostages. We're going to hopefully turn them to our side-"

"Using my amazing persuasive skills." Niko says, interrupting me mid sentence.

"You're not very good at persuading that you're good at persuading." I say just to confuse him.

"Yes I am." He replies.

"Even if they aren't on our side, at least they're safe." I continue. "And that will at least stall Hael's revenge plan because it will no longer be an urgent matter. He'll take the time to think his attack through a bit more. It will buy us more time to stop him."

"Exactly." He states. "And who do we need for our plan to work?" He asks rhetorically.

I know that he means me.

It feels good to be appreciated.

Liam would never say something like that. Now that I think about it, he used to act like I was less capable than I actually was. He'd put me down rather than build me up but he did it in a subtle way, he make me think it was out of kindness and that he was only protecting me, but he wasn't. He couldn't have protected me even if he wanted to because I was too powerful, and I think part of him was afraid of that. Part of him was afraid of me.

The two of us didn't meet because of a coincidence. We met because he was sent to keep an eye on me. I honestly believe, in his own twisted way, Liam grew to care for me. I don't think he would've dated me otherwise.
