A knife is pressed against my throat.
Even though the person with the knife has the weapon, I sort of have the upper hand considering they don't know that I'm awake.
Without a seconds hesitation, I open my eyes and quickly flip the two of us over. During the switch, I grab the knife off the person and now I'm the one straddling them with a knife against their throat.
In mere seconds the tables have turned.
Even through the darkness I can make out the face in front of me.
"Liam." I state, annoyed at the intrusion. "What the hell are you doing here with a knife?" I ask, keeping an ironclad grip on the thing.
Liam looks horrified and I'm sure I look furious.
"They made me do it." He rushes his words out. "They wanted me to prove myself by bringing you in."
"And you really thought that was going to work?" I ask him.
"I don't know, ok?"
"How stupid can you be?" I ask before remembering the bigger question at hand. "Where's Nikolai?"
"That crazy guy that kidnapped me?" He says dramatically.
"Sure." I agree.
"I think they took him."
"They? There are other people here?" I question.
"Yeah, lots."
"Lots?" I ask, shocked. "And you were the best they could come up with for taking me?" I question.
"I think it was because of our shared history."
"Please don't remind me." I say, disgusted. I take the knife from his neck and stand up from the bed. "Take me to Nikolai." I say, having to make a mental effort not to call him Niko in front of Liam. I don't care if Liam knows he's my boyfriend but I'd rather not give any more information away to the government.
"I don't know where he is." He states.
"Do I need to put this knife back against your throat?" I ask.
He rolls his eyes before standing up. The two of us walk through the creepily silent halls.
I'm on high alert so when we turn a corner, I immediately notice Niko at the end of the hall.
The people beside Niko obviously notice me too as the one restraining him raises a knife to his neck.
I immediately grab Liam and pull him towards me. I hold a knife against his throat, waring them not to test me.
Nikolai looks at me impassively but I can see the hidden emotion behind his eyes.
