I breathe in deeply through my nose and out through my mouth.
Today changes everything.
Today determines if we can get the upper hand. It could bring us one step closer to our goal.
We need to find the location of the prime minister. It's our only chance for change.
"There's no chance we can get anywhere near. They have a lot of security now and I mean a lot." Niko says, walking back over to me and the group.
That's bad, but at least we know they're still here after we broke in last time. It would make sense for them to up their security, especially as they're anticipating our attack.
"Ok." I breathe out. "So the stealthy option is off the cards. Ok, we can work with that." I take another breath, trying to calm my growing nerves. "We need to split off in groups like originally planned. If we all go at once, they can't stop all of us."
"It's not just the guards we need to worry about." Niko states. "They have guard dogs."
"Aw cute." Zayden says.
I turn to speak to Zayden. "Does that mean you can stop them from attacking?"
"Yeah. They won't be a problem."
What will be a problem is Morana. I'm almost certain they'll be keeping her here. She's kind of a wild card.
"Anything else we should know about?" I ask Niko.
"This isn't a fact but a personal observation: some of them look like FBI." He states. "And the card scanner doesn't look like a card scanner anymore."
Another obstacle we need to get past...great.
I have faith in us still.
"Ok." I turn to the crowd. "We're going to split up earlier than we planned." I tell them. "We'll surround the place and on my mark, we'll go. We'll do what we can to get in the building. When a door is opened and you get the opportunity, run inside, but make sure you stay with your group. Everyone understand?"
Everyone answers yes before splitting off. Niko is the last person not in my group to leave my side.
"Last chance to back out." I tell the group behind me.
"We're with you." One of them says.
I turn back around and see Niko giving me a thumbs up to say everyone is in place as they're all hidden and I can't quite see everyone.
"Ready." I whisper, giving him a thumbs up. He passes the message on to the next group, who pass it on to the next group and we start running into the open field. It's exhilarating at first. It feels freeing until it doesn't and I'm reminded we have to fight for that freedom.
As soon as the guards see us, they pull out their guns. I immediately use my powers to stop the bullets coming at us.
I stand in front of one of the guards who looks shell-shocked to witness what I just did. He's most likely to talk.
