I stand in Nikolai's empty room alone

I stand in Nikolai's empty room alone. The silence is deafening.

They didn't leave any of the government guarding this place but they've left their mark here. They've taken practically everything, they're no doubt going to use it as evidence. They'll probably extract fingerprints and dna, whatever they can get their hands on really.

It's strange to see this place so empty and destroyed.

When we got here, we searched the place for any remaining people here. We didn't find any. Everyone has either been taken or they've ran away before they could be. We don't think Hael has returned yet but we still think he will.

While we were waiting, we decided to split off and look for any clues or anything we could use.

There are so many reasons why it's risky being back here. Hael, who we are waiting for, is one of them. Each of us are aware of the dangers but we know it's a risk that needs to be taken.

We need to catch Hael before he makes a bomb. Literally.

I conclude that there's nothing much in Niko's room which actually gives me the information that they probably have his fingerprints and it's something we need to be cautious about.

Luckily, Niko constantly wears his ring that grants him powers, I couldn't imagine what would happen if one of those got into the wrong hands.

Wait.

I freeze at the realisation before running out of the room in search for Niko.

"Niko." I say, trying to catch my breath as I stop and stand in the doorway.

"Yeah?" He asks.

"How many of you have those rings?" I say, motioning down to the one on his finger.

He looks down at it before meeting my eyes again. "There's six of us including Hael, why?"

"Tell me their names."

"Me, Ruelle, Hael, Morana, Zayden and Seline." He says, confused.

"There's you and Ruelle here. Seline and Zayden went with Hael but where is Morana?"

Realisation dawns on Niko's face. "Oh shit." He curses. "This is bad, this is really bad."

"The government must have her which means they have her ring and her powers." I state.

There isn't much time to dwell on our problem because we hear the front door open and slam shut.

Niko and I move quickly and quietly to the front door.

As Hael storms past us, I quickly push Niko around a corner so he doesn't see us. We sneakily follow behind him and he leads us to the other side of the house.

He opens the door with the broken lock and makes his way inside. He doesn't bother shutting the door as he doesn't expect anyone else to be here.

From where we're stood, we can peak inside.
