Waiting in the cave after Ne Zha left felt like torture, well obviously not physical, but mental torture as waiting for the celestial to get back was all they could do in their situation. They also both wanted to know how their cub was doing and obviously after hearing Ne Zha describe how much power was needed to set off the alarm set for them was required, it made concerns, worries, fears and questions run through their minds.
Wukong was already going stir crazy well... more than before and often just yelled out of impatience or boredom, which always hurt Macaques ears as they were right next to each other, so even if his hearing wasn't as good as it is, it's still loud.
Macaque on the other hand was getting bored and since his only company was Wukong his mate, then the verbal antics, constant yelling, and snarky comments to the celestial guards who their pretty sure can hear them from where their stationed, was his only form of entertainment otherwise he's be as stir crazy as Wukong.
Although with the barrier in placed around the mountain it meant Macaque didn't have to tune out sounds to sleep or relax as it was just the silence of the cave with the occasional falling rock or stone, water droplets trailing down the walls or stones and dripping into large puddles below them from collecting water for so long. If he wasn't trapped in too many layers of seals to count then this would be a great place to relax and escape the loudness of the outside. It was the quietest things have ever been.
But alas...
Wukong has other ideas.
Wukong: "Damnit! How long is Ne Zha going to take?!"
Macaque was quickly losing patience with is mate as there was only so much one person can take, and after dealing with this sort of stuff for over a decade now he was surprised he wasn't crazy or at the very least snapping at Wukong every chance he got.
Macaque: "Peaches I know your worried for Xiaotian, but you can't just keep yelling and complaining as for one Ne Zha isn't going to magically hear you, and two it hurts my ears, so tone it down."
Even with Wukongs impatience he never liked his mate scolding him, and he had somehow forgotten for a second or so about their situation, so he may or may not have also forgotten that his mate can't just avoid him to get away from his yelling and is physically stuck next to him.
Basically he was an idiot.
Wukong: "Ah, right... sorry mangoes forgot about that. Hehe"
He understood why his mate was so concerned for their cub as he was too, but he really could learn to tone it down a notch or two.
