9:00.... come on. The vibration makes me jump slightly, grabbing my phone out of my lap and answering the FaceTime call at once.

"Hey," Londyn says, grinning lightly.

"Hey," I answer, obviously eager. "How are you?"

"Okay, tired. Your family is busy like all the time."

I grin, nodding. "Yeah, that's them."

"Okay, well, I know the small talk is killing you and you want me to tell you about the girls," she starts.

"Please," I sigh, closing my eyes for a moment before opening them again.

She grins sympathetically. "They seem to be doing okay. They seem stable. Your nanny, Jessica, she seems to do a really good job with them."

I grin, nodding. "She's great, yeah."

"Delphine seems to be doing better than Willa, but she's younger so I'm guessing you assumed that would happen," she starts, making me nod. "She does really well, she'll mention you every once in a while or when Willa does. Aside from that she just hangs out, but she is wild."

I nod, laughing lightly. "That's definitely her."

Londyn pauses, sighing heavily, hesitating.

"Willa," I say softly.

Her lips twist to the side as she nods. "She's having a hard time. She asks for you constantly. It's all day. When are you coming home, if you're home yet, if they can call you, all of the things. Joe does a good job explaining it to her. He just says that you're doing some important stuff to keep them safe and that you'll be home as soon as you can."

I nod, frowning. "So, she's having a hard time. Okay. I knew that would probably happen."

"She also seems to be having a lot of separation anxiety. Obviously from Joe. It seems like every time they have to part ways, even if it's just a couple of minutes, she flips out. Every once in a while she'll do okay. But I'm just noticing its more than not."

I nod again, gulping. "How's Joe?"

She licks her lips. "Struggling. You can tell he's having a hard time. But it hasn't stopped him from giving the girls everything he has. If he's not actively working, he's with them."

"I knew he would be. I told him in the letter I left to make sure he stayed present with them. Not that he wouldn't, but I was so afraid he'd get caught up in missing me. But I think missing me is reminding him to do it at the same time-"

"Since it's what you put in the letter."

"Exactly," I nod.

"It's possible," she grins. "One thing I did notice, though..."

I raise my eyebrows.

"It seems as though Joe's the only one that knows what's going on."

I furrow my brows now, confused. "Wait, what do you mean?"

"Like, no one else is giving any signs of knowing what you're up to. It seems like everyone else thinks you're away for your mental health. In fact, you're getting praised for it from most everyone. They say it takes a lot for a mom to leave her kids to better herself."

I blink a few times. "He didn't tell anyone?"

"Not from what I can tell," she shrugs.

"That's so weird to me. I feel like he would've at least told Kevin and Nick."

She sighs. "They aren't showing any signs of knowing. So either they don't, or they're doing a great job hiding it. I'm watching everyone like hawks. Though I am concerned on their security because I'm able to slip through like nothing."
