With Christmas around the corner, Joe finds himself stressed more than ever, worried that he won't be able to make Christmas as magical with Addie, but trying to do so nonetheless. Her parents had reached out a couple of days ago, wanting to make plans for the Holiday and clearly knowing nothing of Addie's absence. He's yet to reply, not quite knowing how to tell them what's going on. His plan was to call them later today, explain the situation and then make plans. He knew he had to tell them the truth, they would know something was wrong when hearing Addie wouldn't be home for the holidays. They know she'd never miss the holidays with her girls willingly... even if it was for her mental health. Before having the conversation with them, however, Joe had decided it was equally important to have a conversation with someone else about the truth.
Jessica.
He couldn't stop thinking about how much effort she had been putting into the girls. How much understanding and love she has for Addie and the struggle with her leaving. He knows it's risky, a little at least... but wants to tell her the truth. She deserves it, in his eyes. Besides, with the time of Addie being gone becoming longer, he wondered how long he'd actually be able to keep the secret from everyone.
More Christmas shopping in the books as he lets out a sigh, entering the hotel room empty handed, having left the presents elsewhere so the girls wouldn't see.
"Dada!" Delphine squeals, running over.
"Daddy!" Willa follows, both of their arms raised in the air.
"Hi my princesses," I grins, picking them both up. "Were you good for Ms. Jess?"
"I was!" Willa grins. "Delphine not listening."
"Delphine wasn't listening?" Joe asks, faking a gasp.
Willa shakes her head. "No, daddy."
"Oh my gosh," he says, turning to Delphine. "Littlest princess we need to turn on those listening ears. Willa, did you show her how to do that?"
She nods, showing her again.
Delphine giggles, wiggling down and running away.
Joe sighs, turning to Willa. "We'll work on it with her, yeah?"
She nods. "Yeah, daddy."
"Okay," he grins, kissing her cheek and putting her down.
"Daddy, I talk to mommy!"
"You talked to mommy?" He asks, grinning.
She nods, holding up the heart for him to see.
"Did you give her a big hug?"
"Yeah!" she exclaims.
"Oh, I'm sure she loved that, princess."
"I still miss mommy," she frowns.
"I know, princess," he says, crouching down to her. "But, hey, at least now you can talk to mommy and give her hugs, right? We'll hopefully see mommy very soon. Can you be strong for me? Wait a little longer for mommy?"
She nods. "Yeah! I strong!"
"You are so strong," he grins, giving her another kiss on the cheek. "That's my girl."
She giggles, running away to play as well, the heart grasped in her hand.
Joe grins, licking his lips before clearing his throat and making his way to the couch, sitting on the opposite side as Jess. "Hey, can we talk for a second?"
She looks over from watching the girls, a small grin on her lips as she nods. "Yeah, of course."
"Well, first and foremost, I wanted to talk to you about the holidays coming up and your time off."
