I heard a knock and looked up to see Siva standing there in the doorway looking at me. “You alright darlin’?”
I wiped my tears away. “Oh yeah, I’m fine. Just a little homesick. But I can’t wait to get started.”
“We’re all really excited to have ya.” He said. “Do you have anything you wanna do in the city before we get started?”
“Oh definitely. But I don’t know what there is to do. I’ve never been here before.”
“Okay. We’re definitely gonna have to take you girls out tonight.” He smiled and turned to go back downstairs. I heard him yell “BOYS! We have to take Abbey and Stephanie out tonight. They’ve never been to LA before!” He seemed really excited. I really liked Siva. He was sweet.
“HELL YEAH!” I heard Tom say back. I walked to the top of the stairs. All five of them were staring back at me from the bottom. Steph had come out of her room by then to see what was happening.
“We still have to get everything unpacked.” I said. “We’ve only got 5 days before we start work and I’d like to get settled in.”
“Too bad!” Jay said with a smile. “You can start tomorrow. We’re gonna have a good time tonight.”
I looked at Stephanie. She was smiling at Jay, then turned to me and shrugged her shoulders. “Might as well.” I rolled my eyes but still had a smile on my face.
“Fine.” All of their faces lit up. “But I need to unpack my clothes at least so I can figure out what to wear.” They all cheered and high fived, then went back to unloading the truck.
It was almost 6 PM before all the boxes were finally up in our bedrooms ready to be unpacked. I had so many of them. I looked at them and huffed. This was gonna be fun.
“Need some help?” I heard Nathan’s voice at my bedroom door.
“That’d be great.” I smiled. He grabbed the box marked ‘blankets & sheets’ off the floor and put it on my bed. I turned around to grab my first box of clothes so I could get an idea of what to wear tonight and then I heard him laugh.
“What is this?!” I turned and saw him holding my old quilt that I sleep with every night. It’s white, pink, and blue and torn up in some places. I blushed.
“Shut up! That was my great grandma’s quilt!”
“Oh I can tell it was your great grandma’s...” He said, still laughing.
I smiled and snatched it from him. “I can’t sleep without it.”
“How cute.” He said teasingly, making me blush harder.
We unpacked everything except for a couple boxes that I didn’t need right away. I already had my outfit picked out for tonight laid out on my bed; just a simple olive green cocktail dress with my black combat boots. I love wearing heels, and I have a huge collection of them, but I’m also a huge clutz and trip over air and didn’t want to embarrass myself tonight.
Steph and I had to share a bathroom that connected both of our rooms. She had just gotten out of the shower so now it was my turn. Once it was over I wrapped my towel around me and walked out to my room to see Nath standing there.
“Oh shit!” He said, turning away. “I’m so sorry! I thought you’d be in there longer! I was just finishing unpacking these last few boxes.” His face was so red. And so was mine. He scurried out the door.
“It’s alright.” I laughed nervously. “Not like I’m completely naked...”
He cleared his throat. “Yeah. Uh, I’ll be in my room!”
