Part 5 - "What happened last night?"

My heart dropped. “Oh my god, oh my god, what did I do last night?!” I thought to myself.

I looked over at Nathan again, he was shirtless. Then I very hesitantly looked under the covers and let out a sigh of relief when I saw that he had pajama pants on, and I was wearing a spaghetti strapped shirt and shorts, so hopefully nothing too extreme happened last night.

I looked at the alarm clock on my night stand. It read 1:23 PM. Shit. I never sleep in that late.

I got out of bed very slowly making Nathan turn in his sleep. I made my way to my bathroom and looked at myself in the mirror. “Holy shit.” I whispered. My make up was running down my face and my hair looked like a rat’s nest. I tried to brush it out as much as I could and took my make up off. I brushed my teeth and made my way downstairs to see what everyone was doing. Siva was sitting in the living room with Steph watching tv.

“Morning sunshine.” Siva smiled.

“Uh, hi. Steph can I talk to you a sec?” I asked, giving her a look.

“Don’t worry darlin’, everyone knows you and Nath hooked up last night. We’re the ones who had to drag your drunk asses back home. You were making out the whole car ride back.” Siva said with a laugh.

I blushed and my eyes got so big. “Great.” I looked around, the house was empty. “Where is everyone?”

“Jay’s still asleep. Max, Tom, Ollie, Becca, and Maria went to get lunch.” He replied. “I didn’t want to go, still recovering from the hangover.”

“Yours can’t be as bad as mine. So what happened? I blacked out and don’t remember anything after Nathan kissing me at the bar...”

“Why don’t you ask him?” Steph gestured toward the bottom of the stairs where Nathan was standing, still shirtless, hair all messed up, with a hesitant grin on his face.

“Hey...” He said.

“Hi.” Was all I could manage to get out.

“Can we talk?” He replied. I nodded and I followed him back upstairs to his room. He sat on the bed and asked for me to sit down next to him. “Do you remember anything from last night?” He asked me.

“The last thing I remember was the kiss at the bar, and then I blacked out.” I said, ashamed.

“Well I didn’t blackout.” He said. “But I was still really messed up.”

I nodded. “So can you tell me what we did? I don’t usually have boys I’ve known for half a day in my bed with me the next morning and not remember the night before.”

He laughed. “We didn’t sleep together, if that’s what you’re worried about.” He said.

I let out a sigh of relief. “We came back to the house shortly after our kiss. All I did was help put you to bed. Then you asked me to stay with you, so I did. That’s it.”

“So you wanted to stay with me?” I asked.

“Yeah. I like you.” He said.

“Nathan, you hardly know me.”

“Doesn’t mean I can’t like someone. And all I want to do is get to know you more now.”

“Yeah but I’m your manager. We can’t do this. It could ruin everything. And what if your fans find out?” I asked.

“Firstly, you’re not our ‘manager’ really, Scooter is. You’re just here when he can’t be. Which is most of the time. You’re kind of like an assistant.” He said. That was the first I had heard of this. Why did they not tell me any of this in my interview? Oh forget it. Not important right now.

“...Secondly, I’m still a person. I’m allowed to have a life outside of the band. And I’m also really good at keeping a secret. So are the rest of the boys. And I’m sure Stephanie is, since she’s your best friend and all.” He was trying really hard to reassure me that this was okay. And it was working. My guard was starting to fall.

“Okay. But this isn’t how I do things. I don’t just let a guy sleep in my bed with me the first night I meet him. I have to take things slow. We can’t just jump into this. I want to keep my job and if things between us get ruined too fast then that’s it for me here and I’ll have to leave.” I said. “So please just bare with me.”

“Okay. That sounds perfect.” He was smiling so big.

“Put a shirt on, loser. I’m hungry and I want to see more of LA.” I tousled his hair and walked out of his room to find Jay sitting on the couch in the gameroom looking miserable. I couldn’t help but laugh. “You alright there, buddy?” He flinched at the sound of my voice.

“Oh yeah. Just extremely hungover. No big deal.” He rested his elbows on his knees and put his head in his hands. I laughed again.

“Well I think me, Nath, Steph, and maybe Seev are gonna go out to get some food if you want to go. I haven’t eaten yet.”

“YESSSS.” He was really excited about this. He got up and headed back to his room to get ready.

I walked to my room and got dressed. Just a plain white t-shirt, blue jean shorts, and my combat boots, again. I was basically married to those things, I wore them everywhere. Then I went to the restroom and put on a little bit of make up and threw my hair up in a ponytail.

I walked downstairs and they were all waiting for me, chatting in the kitchen. Jay had his arm around Stephanie. What did I miss?! I looked at Steph, surprised, and she just smiled back at me. I needed to talk to her about everything, I still wasn’t sure what I should do with this whole Nathan situation...but later. My stomach growled and everyone laughed.

“Let’s go.” Nathan said, and led us out the door.
