SASUKE POV AGE 10

Let me make something clear:

I hate Valentine's Day.

Same goes for White Day.

That's all people care about during February and March.

It's so annoying. The flowers, the lovey-dovey stuff, the sweets and assorted chocolates. . . all of it. If I could just blink and it be April, that'd be nice.

But I can't, unfortunately.

Heading to the Academy this morning was torture. Moriko had to lead the way again because there were groups of girls trying to get my attention before I even got to school. They wait for me outside the Academy every year with cards, sweets, babydoll eyes and brand-new dresses and outfits on, thinking I'll notice and say something.

I notice, but don't say a damn thing. I don't care.

I don't even use the entrance starting February 1st, though I doubt they've noticed.

Moriko navigates around the girls on our way to school through her tracking abilities and then we head in through the roof entrance. We're always last in the door on February 14th, which I hate. I don't like being right on time, it's almost like being late.

We're better off keeping it that way, though. I came in early last week and they lined up to give me things. Iruka-sensei thought there was a wild animal loose in the building with all the barking and growling Moriko was doing. She was exhausted by lunch time, and I had to fend for myself the rest of the day. It's days like those I'm really grateful for her. I'd like to avoid talking to them at all, and Moriko makes it possible. She thought it was funny at first, but now I can tell even she's starting to find it annoying.

"He's here, he's here!"

"Shhhh! He'll hear you!"

"Yeah, you're always so loud, Yoko. He'll never look your way."

"As if being quiet and nonexistent like you works, Kairi."

"Shhhh!"

"You shush!"

The whispers die out as I enter the room.

"GOOD MORNING SASUKE-KUN!" Almost the entire female section of the class goes.

". . . Ohayo." I mumble, wishing I could forget my manners at a time like this. But I can't allow myself to. Mother didn't raise me that way. It's just a greeting.

"Tch. What's so special about you? Even I got here before you did, teme."

Oh. Right.

Naruto sits at the front.

And since I came last minute on purpose, he thinks he's on time today and I'm late.

Tch. Idiot.

Another thing that makes today so awful. All the other guys, save a few who don't have any crushes on any of the girls after me, are out to get me.

Yeah, today just sucks all-around.

A few girls wait for me at my desk, presents and chocolates in their hands, elbowing each other out the way in a not-so-subtle way. Once they see Moriko enter the room behind me, the hope in their eyes shatter.

I almost grin before I catch myself and hide it.

It's days like this where Moriko is the best thing that ever happened to me.
