I'm. . . human?

Why? Why now?

I can't fight them like this!

What's the point of getting this form now?!

Just when I thought my anger couldn't grow any bigger, when I felt like I was ready to burst into a frenzy of rage. . .

I gained a weak form that I haven't used since my last life. Everything suddenly feels hot, like an inferno has taken hold of my rage. I try standing, only to fall again, still not used to the new form despite its familiarity.

The bandits are splayed on the ground across the road, groaning in pain. I can hear one crying, another complains about his eyes. I try standing again, and I fail once more. I pound my hand into the ground in frustration.

Get up!

You have to get up before they do!

My throat starts to clamp up again as I begin to hyperventilate. Tears begin running down my face.

No.

Now's not the time. Save it for the burial of Mei and her sons.

GET UP!

Get up for THEM.

Get up and fight, dammit!

I pound my fist into the ground again. But this time something's different. I can feel the earth beneath my hand, and something about it is different. I can FEEL it. Not that I couldn't before, but its. . .

. . .bigger somehow.

It feels like. . . it's alive.

The anger and the feel of a blazing inferno dissipates as I become confused.

I take my hand and rub the dirt in front of me, grinding the rocks.

The rocks begin to move unnaturally.

It rises from the ground and floats in front of my face.

Am I.. . the one who's doing this?

I pound my fist into the ground again, and the earth responds.

It moves away from my fist at impact, as if making room for me.

As if I commanded it to do so.

"You little white rat! Where is it? Where's the dog? I'll kill it even with my eyes are gone!" The bandit leader, who it turns out was the one crying about his eyes being blown out his face, is the first to get up from the ground. I look up and find that he's now wandering aimlessly around the carriage, occasionally bumping into it in his search for me. The other bandits remain on the ground, winded from the blast.

Okay, time to get up. SLOWLY.

I attempt to stand on two feet once more, quietly. This new form of mine leaves me without my canine powers, so I'm pretty weak right now. He might be able to kill me if he finds my location.
