"You did what?"
"I'm sorry, honey!" your dad's apologetic voice echoed over the phone. "But they offered me a fortune. Plus, you don't really mind that much... right?"
You huffed, pinching your nose in frustration and counting to ten.
It was so typical of your parents to do this.
One of the great privileges of your upbringing had been your parents' affluence. Though your parents had always insisted on you and your siblings making your own ways in the world, they had done everything to support you in fulfilling your dreams - and continued to do so now that you were at university. Having rich parents had its perks.
Best of all of these, in your opinion, was the luxury villa they owned on the southern coast of France.
Although your parents occasionally rented the house out to paying customers, this was rare - meaning that for the majority of the year, it was for you and your family's use. Your parents tended to avoid it during the summer, finding the heat too stifling - but it was this time you enjoyed the most, the hot weather providing the perfect excuse to do absolutely nothing except read, swim, eat and sleep.
