I sat on the floor in the corner of the living room. The fact that someone was looking for me would be a great thought to anyone else. Yet here I was, feeling my chest tighten at the thought. If someone was looking for me, how would this affect my cover? I've only met the neighbors face to face once, is that enough for them to recognize me? If they do recognize me, what would happen.
The same set of thoughts swirled around in my head for far too long. That was until I heard the front door unlock. I perked up, lifting my head from my knees.
"Danny? Why are you...?" I said while getting up from my spot on the floor just to stop completely. It wasn't Danny coming home early. I instead found myself face to face with the neighbor across the street.
"Ah, Y/N. I didn't know you greeted Ghostface every time he came home." Herman walked into the house, locking the door behind him.
"Why are you here?" I asked while backing up away from him.
"Danny asked me to check on you. We are working together, after all." He said while matching my steps, coming towards me.
"I'm fine." I said plainly, wanting him to leave.
"How could I be so sure? You look awfully pale." He said with a smile on his face. A smile that looked friendly but had a sinister motive behind it.
That's when he reached forward, quickly grabbing onto my arm so I couldn't run. I panicked as I tried to pull my arm back. My free hand grabbed onto his so I could pry his fingers off, just for his free hand to grab it.
"Now, now, you know I can't hurt you. A single scratch and Danny would have my head. Literally." He let go of my wrists, watching as I stepped back quickly, nearly falling from my panic.
"See? We're friends." He said while taking a step back.
Like a friend would do this. Like he means any good with me. I don't know what's happening, but everything has been so chaotic lately that I wouldn't be surprised if he was telling the truth. I know I'd want to be here 247 if I was Danny. With someone looking for me, he must be worried.
"What do you want?" I asked, I wanted, needed this conversation to end quickly. I wanted my alone time once more. Danny can stay worried, I don't want to be around another serial killer, let alone one that I don't think I can trust.
"I already told you. I'm here to keep an eye on you while Danny is away." Herman left, going to the living room to sit down on the couch. He sat down comfortably as if he lived here.
"You gonna stand there watching me?" He spoke up, knowing I was there even though his back was turned.
"No." I slowly backed away, leaving the room and going to the bedroom. I went in and locked the door behind me, going to sit on the bed.
"That asshole." I whispered under my breath as I sat on our shared bed. I would be fine if Danny had just stayed home for a few days, but him? I know nothing about him, and I doubt he's trustworthy in any way. Yet Danny trusts him. He trusts him enough to let him stay in the same house as me. Maybe they had to work together not to get caught. Especially now that someone was looking for me.

I ended up just staying in the bedroom for a few hours alone. I went to the kitchen only once to get water and eat dinner before hiding away back in the bedroom. I had no interest in being around the doctor at all.
I was currently lying in the bed, watching a bird make a nest just outside the window. It was probably one of the most boring things I could possibly do, but there wasn't much to do in the bedroom, and I refused to leave. I had already folded all of the laundry, mine and Danny's, while waiting for him to come home.
That's when I heard the front door unlock. A sound that I have been waiting for forever now. I jumped off of the bed and unlocked the bedroom door.
"She's been distant." I heard Herman say as I approached the front door.
I smiled once I saw it was Danny that had finally come home. I went up and wrapped my arms around him, feeling his arms pull me even closer.
"So she does run to you when you get home." Herman spoke while examining us.
"That's all I need for today. Thank you for your help." Danny dismissed him without even turning his way. He was much more focused on me in his arms.
The doctor left and shut the front door behind him, locking it for Danny. Danny's hand slowly rubbed my back while he pulled away from the hug to look down at me.
"Are you okay? He didn't do anything, did he?" Danny's grip on my waist tightened at just the thought.
"No, I'm fine. I just... I don't trust him. Why was he here?" I asked.
"Come here, we need to talk." Danny held onto my arm while leading me into the living room and sitting me down on the couch in front of him.
"Someone's here."
"They're looking for me, I know." I said, basically giving myself away.
"I knew you'd look at that." Danny smiled while ruffling up my hair. "Listen, we have to play safe. Nobody here knows who you are besides Herman and the neighbors. If they do something... I just can't lose you."
His hand reached up and glided through my hair, brushing through it in a soothing manner.
"We'll figure it out, okay? There's no way a few neighbors could change everything." I said while leaning into his touch. What have I done? I've officially lost my mind when it comes to Danny. Nothing else mattered but him. He had officially won me over.
