I felt the bone-chilling temperature wrapping on my body. If I were in my house, I probably just adjust the air-conditioner but here in Lucas' house, it's pure peak temperature. And my red night gown have no help at all. Even the warm blankets could no longer lessen the coldness.

I slowly opened my eyes. I was slowly invaded by the darkness inside the room. Though, I can see some rays of yellowish to orange-y rays from the outside peeking on some tiny spaces of the bamboo wall.

I yawned and rolled out of blanket made of bed. As soon as my feet touched the bamboo floor, I hissed in coldness. Especially, because I am not wearing a slipper.

I folded the blankets I used and arranged it inside his cabinet. Then I went to my luggage and took a cardigan to protect me from freezing.

I went out of the bedroom then went near the living room. I bit my lower lip to check Lucas. I thought he was lying on the sofa but I was surprised to see him lying on the floor on a blanket but without a pillow. Another blanket is wrapped on his body as well.

I went near him. I stood right in front of him. He is sleeping peacefully.

I know that he is such a handsome man, but now that I can look at him closely, I noticed his appearance more clearly. Long lashes, thick eyebrows, pointed nose, natural red lips, and refined jaw.

Now I wonder...

“How many girlfriends you had?” I whispered in front of him while staring at his face.

“Wala.”

I shrieked in surprise and stepped back with my hand on my chest and my chest drumming fast.

“Bakit ka ba kasi naninitig diyan? Umagang-umaga, Lucy,” he said in a low hoarse voice with still closed eyes.

I felt my cheeks reddened. Wow! Just wow, Lucy! You got caught!

“I was just checking you up if you're still breathing, asshole!” I lied.

“Bakit? Hindi ka ba matutuwa kapag mamamatay ako?” he asked, in a husky voice.

I put my hands on my waist. “Hey you! Don't you ever say such things! Dying is not a joke, you jerk! There are so many people out there who are fighting just to live and yet you're asking me with that stupid question?!”

He moved a bit and pulled the blanket on his body, wrapping it around him more.

Without opening his eyes, he talked, “Ang ingay-ingay mo sa umaga, Lucy. Tsaka buti naisip mo iyan. Akala ko sarili mo lang ang iniisip mo?”

I scoffed and raised my brows at his handsome face. “Why? It's never wrong to choose yourself. The best thing you can do for yourself is to always choose it no matter what.”

“Pagiging makasarili ang tawag doon, Lucy,” he whispered, still eyes closed.

I jeered at him and faked a laugh. “That's what I hate about the society. They recognize self-love as egoism and not pure appreciation of one's self. I don't know why it's so right for an individual to always listen to someone else's opinion but sees self-love as an egoistic expression.” I gibed. “Just because I will choose myself always doesn't mean that I'm selfish, Lucas. Self-love and selfish are different things.”

He sighed and opened his eyes. He get up from his blanket bed and then folded it silently.

I just watched him arranged those things. I pursed my lips and waited for him to finish.

When he is done, he went to the bedroom, probably putting all his blankets there. While I sat on the sofa, waiting for him to come back.

When he went out, he went straight to the kitchen. I puckered my lips and followed him there. He was firing up his stove that is made of thick steel or something.
