Three weeks passed like a breeze of the wind. Three weeks felt like a whirlwind. It was a tough time for me, fixing the mess of the company my parents treasured the most.

I spent all of my time inside the office. There were even days that I did not go home and just slept in the company because of too many things to do. Even with all the people who are trying to help me, there is not a single time that it lessens the pressure upon me.

Being a freshman in the industry, and with all the people who entrusted me the job, pressure is arising. Because I know depth within them, they want me to succeed and fully fix the chaos.

My pace went faster as I walked on the hallway. The sound of my stilettos are heard upon the corridor.

I am about to visit another engineering firm to sign contract for partnership. But because of all the stuff I have to read, I almost forgot that I have an appointment with the owner of the firm.

"Good day, Miss Miller," two employees greeted me.

"Good day," I answered back.

As I arrived on the garage, I immediately saw Nikoel standing and leaning on the car. When he saw me, he instantly stood straight and waited for me.

"I'm late, aren't I?" I asked him.

He opened the door of the car then I entered. "I think we're gonna make it, Miss Lucy."

I told him not to keep on calling me Miss Luciana because I keep on missing Lucas. He was the first one who called me by that name.

I nodded. He went inside the car and started the engine. He then drove the car out of the company.

I breathed out as I let out all of my frustrations from my body. I started humming a song.

Whenever I felt baffled and stressed, I tend to hum. Humming is one way of relaxing your mind because it refrains your brain from overthinking.

"You are doing a great job, Miss Lucy," Nikoel spoke.

Within three weeks of working together, Nikoel somehow knew a lot about me. He isn't just a secretary but an assistant as well which made him think that he should know me better than anyone else.

I actually thought he is a demure humorless kind of person, but he is the perfect opposite.

I sighed and stopped humming as I looked at his back. I pursed my lips and smiled a bit.

"Thanks, Nikoel. But that won't help take away my anxiousness right now," I said and started humming again.

"I am not trying to take away your anxiousness, I am just telling you what you deserve to hear," he said and smiled at me through the rearview mirror then looked away again.

I stopped humming again. I pursed my lips again.

All those years, I've never heard any compliments from my adoptive parents. No matter how I excelled on academics, I never heard them said 'congratulations'. That is why I doubt myself a lot and believed that I'm not good at anything. Whatever I do, it will never be enough.

"Thanks, Nikoel. It's good to hear that sometimes," I said and started humming again.

After almost an hour of ride, we finally arrived at the firm. We immediately went out of the car and went inside the building.

"What was the name of the owner again, Nikoel? I forgot," I asked in a whisper.

"Engineer Mavrick Mariano, Miss Lucy. He just started this firm seven months ago," he answered.

I nodded and kept on walking. We went to the said floor and the said office. Then we were approached by a woman waiting outside the office of the engineer.
