'You wanted me to come to your office, Edwards.' I spoke up as I entered Wyatt's office, seeing his stare at his computer with the biggest hate in his eyes I've ever seen, wondering what he had been doing the past minutes that caused him to look this annoyed and overwhelmed. Probably trouble with Edith's and Asher's case, if I had to make a guess.

'Yes, are you free right now?' He asked, leaning back in his chair as he grabbed an Black Sharpie from his desk, twisting it between his fingers to release some of his stress.

'I am, sounds like you want me to do something for you, drop it.' I said calmly, sitting on one of the armrests of one of the chairs that were standing in front of his desk. He nodded his head slowly and rubbed his temples with his index fingers for a moment, sighing. His eyes closed for a moment before he looked up at me again, his blue eyes finding mine again. A hand rushed through his dark brown hair as he cleared his throat.

'I do, can you go to the prison and inform Asher about his mothers death?' He asked, giving me a heavy feeling in the stomach. Telling people someone close to them died was the worst thing about this job, and now it was in a form of murder it was even worse, in my opinion, yet I nodded at him.

'I can do that, yes. Want me to go right now?' I spoke up, watching how a deep sigh of relief escaped his mouth by my answer.

'You're a lifesaver, David, if you can do that now it would be awesome, Asher should know about this as soon as possible. I'm just done calling with Gary Wilson, Asher's father and Edith's husband and it went terrible.' He groaned, letting me know why he was sitting here like he could slap the shit out of the first guy who would annoy him. And it was understandable from my view.

It was exhausting and draining when people didn't react well to the news of someone's death, but also from that point of view, it was understandable. It was good that Wyatt brought the news to the husband already and didn't let me do the full job. Working together was the best solution in this type of situation.

'You're welcome, go try to calm down a little before you make any dumb decisions and can't think well anymore.' I chuckled softly, watching how he rolled his eyes like his daughter Billie did once towards me.

She was hanging around in her dad's office a while ago and when I told her she wasn't allowed to do so as long Wyatt didn't tell us she rolled her eyes like a sassy queen and left the office, swaying her hips dramatically. I guess all teenage girls did that, at least the ones I knew did that.

'I will, no worries.' He responded as he waved his hand at the door, signing me I could leave again. With a nod I stepped outside the office again and took a deep breath before walking out of the station, going towards my car.

I guessed Asher would get very angry or would sob already by my first words, but he wouldn't stay emotionless, like I've seen a lot of kids his age do when I had to tell them one of their parents died. They probably cried after I left, not wanting to do so in my presence, which was totally understandable. I'm a stranger to most people and I wouldn't want to cry in front of an officer either if I were still a teenager, although I still did.

When I was a young boy of sixteen years old myself my mother had a car accident and an officer came to my door when I was home alone since my father was still working and my brother was in the city with a friend. The man had told me the news and I tried to hold my tears back but I eventually ended up crying like a complete baby. The officer even gave me a hug to comfort me since no one else was home and stayed with me while I called my dad and brother to tell them the news.

Worst day of my life for sure.

My drive towards the prison was quiet, the road wasn't busy either so I could drive without any trouble towards it too. After I identified myself at the counter, one of the security guards took me to a consultation room and then picked up Asher. I hadn't seen the boy for over a month, so when he was brought in I was surprised at what he looked like by now.
