Chapter 10 - A talk with the Jounins

Mai's POV

I waited alongside Kakashi for the kids to come.

Kakashi already told me about the Chunin exam. Its still about the same as my time.

After a while, I saw all three of them together and I smiled contently.

Kakashi separately gave then the chunin exam form. Saying its up to them if they want to join.

"Well, I'm glad all of you are here" Kakashi said.

"Thats right...Even Sakura" I said, smiling.

"Eh? What are you talking about?" Sakura ask, confused.

"Chunin exam is where a team of genins participate. Not individually" Kakashi said.

I nod.

"Then what will you do if I didn't come?" Sakura ask.

"Then both of us wont let Naruto or Sasuke to go in at all" I said.

"But, you came after all. If I were to tell you the real deal, then either Naruto or Sasuke would force you. Or you'll do it for their sake..." Kakashi said.

I nod.

"I'm proud of all three of you" I said.

"Well, go in then. Good Luck" Kakashi said.

The three of them went in.

"It seems so fast that they're becoming chunin" Kakashi said.

"Well, you became chunin at the age of six. And jounin at fourteen. I'm sure your sensei feel the same thing too. But just because they're taking it doesn't mean that they'll become one immediately" I said, chuckling.

Kakashi chuckled.

"Yeah, you're right I suppose" He said.

I smiled.

"Right, come on. I promise Kurenai and Asuma that I'll introduce you properly" Kakashi said.

I nod.

He held my waist and we dissapear in a cloud of smoke.

When the smoke disappear, we're already in a room.

"Ah, Kakashi. Looks like you're done too" I heard Asuma said.

"Yeah. You guys too" Kakashi said as we both walk to the couch and sat down.

"Oh right, Thanks for paying Chouji's food. Sorry about him. He's really a big eater" Asuma said.

"No problem. He seems hungry and the girl, Ino has been scolding him non stop" I said.

"Mai-san, its nice to see you again" Kurenai said.

I smiled.

"Of course, Kurenai! Thanks for helping me too" I said.

"So, straight to the point, what's the old man hiding about you? I cant hold back my curiosity" Asuma said.

I blink, once...twice...

"Thats blunt...But its nothing much, I'm S--"

Before I can continue on, Kakashi place his hand over my mouth.

"Mai, you're suppose to keep it a secret" Kakashi sigh.

I took his hand off me.

"Kakashi, you and Hiruzen are too worry. Its just my name. I dont see any harm on telling two jounins about it" I said, shrugging it off.

"Well, yeah, they are trusted... But shouldn't you ask be for Hokage-sama's permission first?" Kakashi said.

"Mah, Mah, I'll talk to him later" I said casually, waving it off.

"I've been wondering, why do you call Hokage-sama by his name?" Kurenai ask.

"Well, I suppose because he's younger than me and I dont feel like giving honorific to him" I said.

"Y-You're O-Older than the old man?!!" Asuma exclaimed.

I chuckled at his expression.

"My name is Suzuki Mai. One of the founders of Konoha. And the last living Suzuki there is. I'm as old as your first Hokage" I said, smiling.

Both Asuma and Kurenai look at me with wide eyes.

"S-Suzuki...Mai? As in that Suzuki Mai? The one who stood along our first and Uchiha Madara?" Kurenai ask.

"Aparently yes..." Kakashi said and sigh.

"Amazing..." Kurenai said.

"Then you're really really old!" Asuma state.

Kurenai hit his head.

"Asuma, thats not a nice thing to say to a lady" She said.

"Ahh, Sorry... I accidentally blurt it out" Asuma said, smiling sheepishly.

"Its okay, its okay. I'm still, in a way 25 you know. But you need to keep it a secret" I said.

"Yeah, it might danger her" Kakashi said.

"So you're a year younger than us. But How can you still look young?" Kurenai ask.

"My clan, Suzuki. Our kekkei Genkai is able to control time. This particular jutsu that I use, stops time around me. But I'll be asleep for who knows how long. It can recover your wounds faster, generates healing and all" I said.

"Were you hurt that time?" Asuma ask.

I shook my head.

"Just...I Just ran away from my problems...." I said.

We were silent for a while...

"Anyways...Kakashi" Kurenai suddenly change topic.

Kakashi who's reading his book jump at her sudden curious tone.

"W-What?" Kakashi ask.

"Since when are the both of you together?" Asuma said.

"H-How in the world did you know?!" Kakashi ask.

Asuma look at the both of us from top to bottom.

"Hmm~~ Sitting so close together, Leaning on each other. And you're telling me you're not together?" Kurenai said.

"Right, and the old man told me too" Asuma said.

I blush slightly.

"H-How did Hiruzen know?" I ask.

"I dont know, He just said he just know it" Asuma said.

"That Hiruzen, he's gonna get it from me!" I exclaimed.

"Anyways its so quiet here without the genins" Kakashi said, changing topic again....

I giggled and nod.

"Well, you might be seeing them soon" Asuma said.

"What do you mean?" I ask.

"I heard the first exam proctor is Ibiki" He said.

"Ibiki? Who's that?" Kurenai ask.

"Right, you just became Jounin. Ibiki is the head of interrigator in Konoha" Kakashi said.

"Oh, you mean that rude one who shouted at me for being disrespectful?" I ask.

"Well, yeah..." Kakashi chuckled.

"Hmm...Anyways I hope everything's fine" I said.

"Dont worry too much. Those kids are strong" Kakashi said.

"Well, yeah, you're right. All of them are strong enough to go through this" Asuma said.

'Yes...they are strong.... Yet I cant shake this feelings of that something bad's gonna happen anytime soon...'

Mai thought, as she continue to converse with the Jounins while the Genins starts their exam.
