chapter 17 - Just For Now...

MAI'S POV

I waited at the Hokage's office. Hashi's granddaughter's coming soon. A relative huh... I've been wanting to meet her ever since I heard her from Hiruzen. Speaking about Hiruzen, he's still in the hospital, but he woke up just a few days ago. I'm sure he'll be glad to step down from the position. After all he's just too weak for now. He do  hate paper  works.

I chuckled slightly.

I look down from the office at the window... everyone seems to be fine now. The village's recovery seems to be taking place very well. Not much of major injury... no huge casualty... I suppose the only problem for the next Hokage is the paperwork.

The door to the room open and I turn around. I smile at the four person standing there.

"Welcome back" I said.

"Mai-sensei!! See! We brought her back just like how I said I would!" Naruto was the first to talk as he ran to me.

"yes, and thank you very much" I said, patting his head.

I then notice something dangling around his neck.

"isn't this..." I took it out of Naruto and see it.

"That's the First Hokage's necklace... I think you know it right, Mai-san?" Jiraiya said as he leans by the frame of the door.

"I know it a bit too well actually..." I said.

"so... you're really grandfather's friend? One of the founder?" Tsunade ask.

I look at her and smile. I immediately know Tsunade's the blond one. I'm not so sure how to explain, but I can sense something in her that's similar to Hashi.

"That's right... I've been wanting to meet Hashi's granddaughter for a long time. I've never actually got the chance to actually meet his child at all too..." I said as I smile.

"But is it possible for you to live this long?" a girl beside Tsunade spoke up.

I look at her and smile.

"well, I have my clan's kekkei genkai to manipulate time. But putting that aside, I assume you already accepted the position as a Hokage, Tsunade?" I ask.

"Of course, I'm willing to take the job" she said confidently.

I nod and smile. I then turn to Naruto and return his necklace.

"Don't lose that necklace, Naruto. It's a very precious necklace that belong to the First Hokage, and Tsunade gave it to you" I said to him.

"Yeah! I won't dattebayo!" he said, grinning at me.

I smile back and ruffle his hair.

"Well, first thing's first... as the next Hokage, you need to promote the chosen Genin to Chunin base on the previous Chunin exam" I said to Tsunade.

"Ne, ne, I'll definitely be a chunin right? Since I won that time" Naruto ask a bit too enthusiastic.

I chuckle slightly.

"well... we'll see..." I said.

He pouts at me.

"Well, you'll have to decide it with the elders of course. But for now, my job's here done. I'll leave everything else to you. You are after all the next Hokage" I said, smiling at her.

She nods.

"Right! Then, I'll be off now then. I've been quite busy these days. Kakashi's been complaining about it" I said as I chuckle slightly.
