Chapter 50 - Gai

Third Person POV

"Wait...You're saying you're opening the gate of death?! Don't be ridiculous!" Kakashi said.  

"Gai, think this over. This is your life we're talking about" Minato said.

"Gai-sensei... Do you think it's really that time?" Lee asked, a solemn look on his face.

Gai looks at Lee and grinned.

"Don't look at me like that, Lee! This time you can sit back and enjoy the show" Gai said, taking his Jounin vest off. 

"Gai..." Mai held his arm for a moment and look at him.

Gai look at her and gave her a grin and a thumbs up.

Lee teared up. He remembered the time when he just became a genin... A conversation he had with his sensei...

'You remind me of me back when I was a failure. Nowadays in matches against Kakashi, we're nearly even! I want to prove that even a person who can't use Ninjutsu or Genjutsu can still become a splendid shinobi. It's a great goal... one that's really worth fighting for. It's the path you choose, so have faith and follow it! Become such a strong fighter that I can sit back and enjoy the show'

Mai frowned and let him go. 

Immediately, Gai ran forward way faster than how he originally is. 

"Open!! Eight Inner Gates Formation" 

"Red..." Mai said. 

"He really opened the last gate..." Kakashi said in disbelieved.

Immediately disappearing upon activating his last gate, he reappeared in front of Madara.

"Sekizo!! Evening Elephant!!" 

"First step!"

Gai gave a super punch at an incredible speed and power.

"Sekizo... Evening Elephant... That's Gai-sensei's..." Lee couldn't finish his sentence.

"Yeah. It can only be used when activating the gate of death. It's forbidden taijutsu" Mai explained, void of any emotions and only looking at the fight before her.

'I insisted... I claimed that I need to stop Madara... but look at me now... unable to stop a friend from making a suicide move... all because of my incompetence'

"But Sekizo puts so much pressure and stress on user's body... Gai..." Kakashi said, worried for his friend.

"What exactly did he do? What is the eight gates formation?" Gaara asked.

"Gai activated a type of limiter. It releases a person's maximum power capability. In other words... Do you remember the power that Lee used against you during the chunin exam? Gai's using the final stage of that Jutsu.  When you release all 8 limiters... It gives you 10 times or even more the strength and power. Even probably stronger than the Gokages. But that's only temporary..." Mai said, her eyes still on Gai and Madara fighting.

"After that intense amount of power... The person will inevitably die..." Mai ended.

Her eyes follow the fight intensely. 

The group stayed quiet.

"Let's help Gai a little shall we?" Mai said.

"You come up with a plan?" Kakashi asked. 

"Yeah... I'm not entirely sure it'll work. I analyzed it based on when Obito became the Juubi's Jinchuriki and what I'm seeing now" Mai said.

"What's your plan?" Minato asked.
