Seraphina's POV
The quiet rustle of pages and the soft whispers of the other students created a comforting background noise as I sat at the corner of the library.
Nandito ako dahil gusto kong iwasan si Aiden. I still couldn't get over what happened yesterday, paulit-ulit na pumapasok sa isip ko ang mga mata ni Aiden na puno ng pagsusumamo.
Nakatutok ang mga mata ko sa librong binabasa nang marinig ko ang pagtunog ng aking tiyan, reminding me that I hadn't eaten since breakfast. I ignored it, too engrossed in reading to care.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a familiar figure approaching. I looked up to see Aiden, holding a tray with what looked like food. My heart skipped a beat, but I quickly masked my surprise with a cold expression.
"Sera," he said softly, stopping in front of my table. "Baka nagugutom ka na."
I glanced at the tray. There was a sandwich, some fruit, and a small bottle of juice. I felt a pang of nostalgia, naaalala ko ang pangyayari dito sa library noon. Ganitong-ganito rin, dinalhan niya ako ng makakain.
I swallowed the lump in my throat. I couldn't let myself be swayed by his gestures again.
'Tandaan mo, Sera. Someone out there is destined for him.'
"Hindi ako nagugutom," I said flatly, turning my attention back to my book.
"You need to eat, love. You can't keep going like this."
I didn't respond, my eyes fixed on the pages in front of me. Ramdam ko ang titig niya sa akin, filled with concern and something else—regret, perhaps?
"Love, please," he continued. "Just eat something. I don't want you to get sick." There was a hint of desperation in his voice. Napatingin ako sa pagkaing dala niya. Gusto kong tumanggi, but the look in his eyes stopped me.
I sighed deeply. Walang imik kong kinuha ang pagkaing dala niya. Walang nagsasalita sa amin habang kumakain ako.
He was smiling at me when I finished eating the food he brought.
Inirapan ko siya. "Sayang ang pagkain kapag hindi ko kinain. Walang ibig sabihin ang ginawa ko."
He chuckled lowly. "Hindi ko naman sinabing meron." Hindi ko sinagot ang sinabi niya.
"Can we talk?" he asked me softly.
Umiling ako. "Nag-usap na tayo, Aiden. There's nothing to talk about anymore." Tumayo ako.
"Thank you for the lunch, but I should get going."
He sat down beside me. I have a hunch what he is going to tell me, but I hope I am wrong.
