I was sitting in my room, playing my guitar. It was pretty early into the day still, and I was home alone, Hartley being at a Sunshine Club meeting and grandma who knows where.
I turned the volume down on my speaker and stopped strumming when I heard light tapping on my window. I furrowed my eyebrows, sitting my guitar down and standing up, walking over to the window to see Colby on the roof ledge outside of it.
"Colby, what are you doing it's 8am? You can just go through the front door." I said, opening the window and getting out of the way as Colby climed through and into my bedroom.
"Yeah, but I didn't know if your grandma was home and she scares me." Colby said, making me chuckle. "I just wanted to see you."
I walked up to him, pecking his lips before walking back over to my speaker and turning it off. I felt Colby wrap his arms around my waist, in a hug, making me smile and turn around.
I looked up at him as he smiled down at me before he wispered in a soft voice, "Let's get out of here."
"What?" I chuckled, confused.
"Let's get away. You and me. We can go to the beach, get some food, and spend the day together."
"Colby, we can't just leave." I giggled, looking up at his serious face.
"Who cares. Hartleys at the Sunshine Club all day, your grandma isn't home, and my parents don't care where I am as long as I come back." Colby said, wrapping his arms farther around my waist, bringing me in closer.
"Colby." I said, contemplating.
"Please." He wispered in my ear, leaning down and kissing my temple, making a shiver run down my spine.
"Fine." I sighed with a smile, making him grin, leaning down and kissing my lips gently.
He climbed back out my window, telling me he'd meet me in a little bit before I turned to my dresser.
I changed into a bathing suit, throwing on a pair of shorts and a t-shirt over top. I grabbed a tote bag, throwing in a towel, sunscreen, a hair brush, and a few other necessities. I quickly wrote a note saying I was with Colby before putting on my shoes and walking down the stairs just as the doorbell rang.
I opened it with a smile to see Colby. He put his hand out for me as I grabbed it and walked down the porch steps.
"Wait, how are we even going to get there? It's like an hour drive to the beach, and we can't drive yet." I asked as Colby stopped in front of the driveway of his house.
"I have my permit, so I sorta technically can. Besides, it's not illegal unless you get caught." Colby said, walking over to the passenger side door of the car and opening it for me.
I looked at him in disbelief before rolling my eyes playfully and getting into the car. He closed the door behind me before walking over to the driver's side and getting in. I trusted him.
He slowly pulled out of the driveway and down the road. He was actually a pretty good driver.
"How are you so good at this?" I asked as he got on the highway.
"When I got bored back home, I would steal cars and drive them around town." He shrugged as if it were nothing keeping his eyes on the road as he put his free hand on my leg, making my stomach do somersaults.
We listened to music, talking the whole way until we got there. I grabbed my tote bag from next to my feet and turned when my door was opened, Colby putting his hand out for me to take.
I smiled, grabbing his hand as he took my bag and held it for me. The beach wasn't very busy, and we had no issue finding a spot, putting our towels down on the sand.
I watched as Colby took his shirt off, my eyes slowly widening. Colby, obviously noticing by the smirk on his lips. I quickly looked away, embarrassed before taking off my shorts and shirt.
I screamed when I felt colbys pick me up off the ground, running towards the cold water. We both laughed as he sat me down in front of him as we began to splash the water at each other.
I ran farther into the water, hiding behind a big rock that was there, looking past it to see where he was, screaming when he jumped out from behind me.
He wrapped his arms around my waist once again and started walking back around the rock to where we were before.
We continued playing around in the water for hours, and we were now sitting on our towels eating sandwiches Colby had bought at a small place near the beach.
After eating, we played a little more, the sun beginning to set around us, signaling it was getting late. We dried off, picked our things up, and walked back to the car.
"I really enjoyed today." I said, looking at our connected hands and back to the boy beside me as we walked.
"Me too." He smiled, walking to my side of the car, opening the door for me and helping me into the car, it being a little off the ground.
I watched him walk around to the driver's seat as I sighed, a small and content smile on my face. I looked back out the window to see some grey clouds beginning to roll in.
He got into the driver's seat, turning the car on, pulling out of the parking spot. I Bluetoothed my phone to the car and pushed shuffle on my playlist as we began our drive home.
It began to lightly rain, not the strong and hard rain, but more of the soft, peaceful rain. I shivered as the air conditioning mixed with my still drying body collided.
"You cold babe?" Colby asked, glancing at me and back at the road, an eyebrow slightly raised.
"Yeah, a little." I said as he glanced to the back seat and back to the road before taking one hand off of the stirring wheel and turning to grab something off the back seat quickly before sitting back down and holding his sweatshirt out.
"Here." He said as I smiled, taking it and putting it over my body, the smell of his cologne hitting my nose.
"Thanks." I smiled as he smiled back, laying his hand on my leg.
"Of course, Ev."I felt myself slowly start to drift off to sleep from the sound of the music, Colbys humming along, the smell of his cologne on his sweatshirt that sat warmly around me, as his thumb gently rubbing my leg as he focused on the road.
(Colbys POV)
I turned, glancing at Evelyn to see her peacefully sleeping, hand resting on my hand, which rested on her leg.
I sighed quietly, quickly glancing at her again as Iris by The Goo Goo Dolls began to play in the speakers from her Playlist still connected to the car.
She was perfect. The way her eyes slightly moved under her eyelids as she dreamed. Her eyebrows furrowing slightly. Her lips rested gently in a small smile. The way her chest gently rose and her nostrals would slightly flare as she breathed in and out as she slept. The way she smelled of vanilla mixed with my cologne from my sweatshirt that was huge but also seemed to look perfect on her. Everything about her was just perfect.
I looked back to the road, still rubbing my thumb against her leg gently, happy and content with where I was and who I was with, the sound of Iris still playing in the background.
I stayed like this until I pulled into my driveway. I shut the car off, turning to look at the beautiful sleeping girl beside me before getting out and walking to her side of the car. I opened the car door, sliding her tote bag over my arm before slipping my arm under her legs and her head, carrying her inside my house.
"Colby?" She started to stir as I carried her up the stairs.
"Shhhh, go back to sleep, Ev." I wispered, making her nod and lay her head on my chest slightly, closing her eyes again.
I walked into my room, placing her on my bed, covering her with my blanket. I sat her bag down before sliding in next to her, wrapping my arms around her waist, pulling her into me as I began to drift off into sleep next to her.
