The reason Baek Yu-Seol had been gathering the blessings of the Twelve Deities was solely to prevent the world's destruction.
However, back when he was playing the game, his motivations were entirely different.
He had already cleared all the content, and with nothing left to do, he and other veteran players started looking for new challenges.
That's when they discovered that the blessings of the Twelve Deities granted special abilities, powers, and skills. It became an obsession, something to dive into with fervour.
Back then, with nothing else to focus on, he spent hours upon hours levelling up the skills of the Twelve Deities. But now, things were different.
Since acquiring the blessings, he'd had hardly any time to properly train with them. Life had been too hectic.
Although he now possessed five blessings, the only one he had truly learned to handle was the blessing of Yeonhong chunsamwol.
"This is a good opportunity. I'll practice each one throughout the winter break."
Closing his eyes, Baek Yu-Seol mentally assessed the energy of each of the Twelve Deities.
Despite the grand name of "blessing," the abilities weren't immediately overwhelming. They mainly served to slightly enhance certain attributes.
For instance, the blessing of Cheongdong sibilwol(Bronze December) would likely suit Eisel much better.
(TL: if anyone remembers, the first time when bronze December was introduced, I used the name Blue December everywhere it was an icy place and everything was repeatedly getting described using blue blue blue, and even back then I mentioned that i am not sure whether this is blue or bronze, the Korean was difficult. Then it was always introduced as Bronze December everywhere and chengdong actually means bronze so I thought: okay fine. But in the previous chapter when colors were used with stars to describe the blessings in Yu-seul's inner world, the author clearly used "Blue" color, which could be none other than "chengdong sibilwol" so I guess either I don't understand Korean, or the author is fking with us)
But even if he couldn't wield the ice attribute effectively, it didn't mean he couldn't make use of the blessing.
For example...
[Blessing of Cheongdongsibilwol]
Baek Yu-Seol's eyes took on a blue hue, and suddenly, a thin layer of ice-like mana began to emanate from his Teriphon Sword. Snowflakes formed at the blade's edge, scattering a chilling aura throughout the training ground—one of the powers granted by the blessing.
Even if one couldn't originally wield a particular element, the blessing allowed its use.
This might not mean much to those with innate talent, like Haewonryang or Mayuseong, who could already handle multiple elements.
However, for someone like Hong Bi-Yeon, who was inherently limited to fire-type magic but could master its extreme forms, how extraordinary would it be if she acquired the blessing of Cheongdongsibilwol?
She might then be able to wield both fire and ice at their extremes.
To Baek Yu-Seol, who couldn't use any elements at all, this seemed impressive, but it wasn't particularly meaningful.
After all, he couldn't wield magic, so mastering ice mana wouldn't lead to any significant accomplishments.
"...How should I use this?"
So instead of focusing on the elements themselves, Baek Yu-Seol decided to concentrate on the essence of the Twelve Deities.
