Heatwave still ended up finding out about Tough Luck Chuck being stuck to the balloon, after all, he was the one who had to go retrieve him. because of this, Heatwave was also very much late to watch a movie with Hightide even though they literally planned this peaceful night weeks ago which would involve (hopefully) no emergencies.

somehow, with the discussion of being late, and somewhat blaming part of it on the recruits, it brought up a rather strange conversation. Surely enough, it was not only awkward to ask about but also to think about because neither one fully planned to have this conversation in the first place and neither one had really thought that far ahead.

Hightide realized he probably should've thought it through before randomly talking about kids because half of him didn't even know what he was saying and with Heatwave off guard, it only made the whole thing get worse with each sentence they said. Heatwave still remembers when Blades and Chase had this conversation and he still questions why he had to be there for it, but this was way worse than that.

They have no idea how long they managed to remain on the topic but they both knew this awkward stuff had to end. Clearly, this was not the talk that they needed to be having right now and should be brought up again when they have actually thought about it. Heatwave said he at least needed to get through this first year at the academy and then they could have this talk again if it arose.

but for now, they settled on watching The Bachelor, and yelled at the screen a good couple of times.
