Blades actually test ships sometimes, but not just ordinary ones that are meant for cargo (the most common one to Cybertron). He is in charge of testing rescue ships, making sure that they are built up to par with the current rescue standards and there are no complications regarding tha build of the ship itself.

He would say it was a fun job if he hasn't had so many problems already. with checking they are up to par, most of the ones he has seen have had complications even before he tried to a flight test such as missing additions like winches and a couple setting. The ones he has already tested in flight had engine problems, other mechanical issues and even one time with the seatbelt.

surely if it was back when he was a recruit, there wouldn't be this many standards to it. Yet with this new era, it appears that the statement of safety is not something they are used to focusing on. With how much this has occurred, Blades has almost tried to quit on several occasions because he feels like with every complant e has made, they just can't seem to fix the fact that they have yet to really have a good ship that's up to par with current regulations.

The first ship that was well done only had a couple small bugs of some sticky buttons but it was great regardless. Blades would've been more happy about the whole thing if the ship in question wasn't a two seater.
