Although The recruits may find Cube competitive between each other, it doesn't even compare to High Tide's family and how they play.
Chase, Blades and Boulder have spectated one of their 'friendly' matches where pretty much the rules of cube are the same but you can be extremely unethical with it as long as you follow the law. They had this gear too, which made it all but more interesting to see how the teams worked.
They also betray each other, pretty much making it a free for all where you just have to score on the side you weren't assigned to. They have literally witnessed how Heatwave has had to go in it and literally survive in this one for all battle and has also beat up his own in-laws just for the sake of the game.
Either way, the recruits would never understand it unless they witnessed it or they went through it all.
