Heatwave had such poor faith in both Snarl and Sludge that he legit kept mentioning he needs this to be over as soon as possible so they can head back to ensure the entire upstanding academy building.

Even with this, they literally debated whether to make the entire clean up of it slower than it needed to be so Heatwave could try and gain some faith in the bots who were watching the academy. Even with this plan in mind, there was no need to actually use it as Heatwave got easily distracted multiple times. They didn't really ask High Tide to do it but it sort of just occured, even when the dude got his entire Megabot of a ship hit by one of the meteors.

With this, instead of Heatwave begging to go back, he was begging to stay because he made it sound like High Tide was dying. So many bots had to say he would be alright before Heatwave could even believe it, let alone leave his side, still recalling when he got shot.

It took some time but Bumblebee eventually got him dragged back to the academy, to which he found he still had zero faith in Sludge and Snarl regarding the safety of the academy.
