The real reason Heatwave had to take some time off.

Heatwave was so exhausted, recharging was hard to come by, leaving the academy in the hands of Grimlock and very much worrying about that, not to mention he has tried everything and finds himself unable to do nothing, can barely find the urge to refuel, feeling numb, and overall scared.
High Tide wasn't leaving the room, he tried everything. Heatwave already tried to bust down the door, which was a lot of money to replace since the door is custom and right after installing the new one, the door was locked once more. He was practically shut out, and Heatwave couldn't figure out what more he could do to open it.
things haven't been well, and surely, everyone else could agree. no one really would have believed it when it was first said but even so, everyone was coping with it in their own way. Many were very heartbroken by the news but everyone could tell it hit High Tide the hardest.
because unfortunately, Servo was no longer with them.
They held a quiet little ceremony, but even so, High Tide looked like he just wasn't there despite being present. Since then, the bot locked himself away, not letting anyone in, not even a Prime. Heatwave understood but Servo was there for him in the deepest point for High Tide, that bond was strong, and now the ship was even more quiet than it ever could be.
He has called Ratchet a couple times to try and figure out what to do but the medic had no answers. He had to admit he was worried about what was going on in the room since there was zero way of telling, which only made it all seem worse.
He kept up with his teaching stuff in order to try and not have himself panicking so much but even doing that was difficult. time was something that was lost completely as the red bot just wished that door would open up soon, until it did.
He was just sitting trying to focus on something else when he heard the door slide open. He had to physically pause since he was so exhausted he had to double check as to whether or not he actually heard it or he was finally starting to hallucinate.
The door then hit the wall, making Heatwave jump where he was sitting. He got up slowly as his exhaustion was very much present, looking to see exactly what was happening right now.
"High Tide?" He muttered, watching as the bot was walking in the one direction which is considered a decent room, the wash racks.
He was quick to follow, thinking there was a big chance that the bot was going to relock himself in another room and Heatwave would be so powerless (listen, he was not paying for a door again). Before the door was able to shut, he slid for it, managing to stop it from closing but definitely causing his poor pede to be in throbbing pain.
"High Tide." Heatwave got up, standing as he opened the door to enter the room. He looked inside to only find the bot just staring right back at him, face clearly disheveled from the crying that the bot must have been doing.
"Can you leave?" High Tide clearly tried to make out words but his voice was practically gone due to the amount of emotion there was. Heatwave only understood because of how much he plays with his favorite nephew, and that didn't take long to figure out either.
Heatwave just shook his head, dragging the other along and getting the blue bot into the warm water that was in the filling tub. he knew he didn't have to start grabbing the sponge and clean him when he himself looked to be barely on the waking side but he knew High Tide was really only going to sit in the tub anyway until the water was cold, then just go back to moping around.
"You can cry if you want to, I'm not here to judge." Heatwave says while continuing with what he was doing.
Heatwave surely would've done the same thing if he was upset, lock himself away and just compress his feelings to only himself, but that was not who he was anymore. he is surrounded by something so much greater, and some of that came from High Tide, so he was not about to have High Tide closing himself off.
It didn't take long for Heatwave to finish, having the tub cleared out while he took a short and brief moment to grab cubes of energon and place them in their shared room, heading back to see that the water was nearly all gone and High Tide was still sitting there.
Heatwave helped him dry off and then brought him back to the room he spent most of his time all tucked away in, handing over one of the cubes to High Tide while bundling them themselves together in blankets and making sure that the energon is consumed.
"High Tide, I understand how you feel but I just have one favour." Heatwave says, somewhat looking at the bot. "Can I at least stay by you? we can do whatever you want but I just want to be by your side."
"Sorry about your pede."
"High Tide, you very well know I am the one who slid my foot." Heatwave says. "You don't need to apologize, ok, all I want from you right now is to be next to me."
They both eventually fell asleep like that bundled together, both very much exhausted and emotionally wrecked but it was ok.
Everything was going to be ok.
