I walk onto the field, fixing my ponytail as I look amongst the crowds to try to find my mom. She didn't show up, unsurprisingly. I don't even know why I bothered to look; of course she didn't show up.

"Hey, Michelle," My teammate Olivia says to me.

"Hey, girl," I smile.

I'm then greeted by another one of my teammates. This time Alexandria walks over to me enthusiastically, grabbing onto my arm.

"Are you ready to fucking kill it tonight?!" She squeals.

"I'm ready for this to be over," I tell her. "Coach is working us way too hard, and my joints are fucked. Plus, as soon as I'm done with this, I can go out and buy some more cigs."

I continue, "Mom says that if I perform well, then she'll give me money for them."

"Your mom is handing you money for cigs?"

I nod. "Uh-huh. She was so desperate for me to leave to be here tonight. But she's not fooling me; everyone knows that she wants me out of the house so that her and Steven can fuck all night."

"Oh shit." She takes it in.

"Yeah, but I don't get why she even tries. I mean, they fuck when I'm home too, it's not like it's some big secret."

"Maybe they're bringing over another girl... or man," She suggests.

"Ew, can you not? That's like the most fucked up thing I've ever heard!" I cringe.

"Why? Tons of couples do it."

"I don't exactly want to imagine my mom with her tongue inside someone's pussy." I roll my eyes at how oblivious she is.

She giggles. "Oops, sorry."

And then we both look over as we see coach approaching. She has a serious look on her face, and I can tell that she's not in the best of moods. She stomps over towards us, her binder held tightly against her chest. I still don't know why she carries that thing around.

I'm guessing its's so that she looks professional. I don't know why she even tries; I mean, everyone knows that coach is the furthest away from being professional.

"Michelle," Coach says as she approaches me.

"Coach."

She begins speaking to me. "Now, I want you on your best behaviour tonight. There's tons of college scouts watching. You're one of my best. This could be your shot, alright? Just perform to the level that I know you can."

"Alright then." I nod. "I hear you."

"Good."

She then says, "You too, Alex. Don't mess up."
