Puvi

Dhana is depressed, I could see it on her face. I did what I did because no, I don't want a guy to be with her alone in that closed space. The guy didn't seem like a good one either. And no guy would go this far to tutor a girl unless he's interested in her. While there are exceptions, I don't want to take any risks.

Besides, his intention might have been pure, but I don't like another boy with my Dhana. If I've to show her my love, she has to spend her time with me. I've to make circumstances that would let me be with her. Thus I hope this guy never returns-even If he did, I'll make sure he gets fed up and quit tutoring her.

However...what I'd done the last night appeared to have brought immense displeasure to Dhana albeit I did it for our good. Well, it was for my selfish reason, but I've no bad motive behind it.

That night, I wanted to speak to her regarding this, yet the situation didn't favor me. After dinner, she departed to her room while her parents stayed up in the living room, drowned in a conversation. I was with them and felt awkward to go to her room when they would obviously notice it...

Hence I backed off.

On the subsequent day, I had to leave to the office on time. I've been very unpunctual recently and If I keep doing it frequently, this will be reported to the top-level management.

Thus I'd to start earlier to work...

Nevertheless, sharply at 12.30 pm, I utilized the break and flew on my bike towards Dhana's college. She stood at the entrance, awaiting me as she always does, and hopped on my bike once she saw me.

...her action indicated that she wasn't indignant with me. But why the sulking face though? What would have gone wrong?

With a dubious mind, I drove to the restaurant. She was silent all along and I decided to implore her about the same once we reached our destination.

Out of context, but she looked so pretty today. Even when her face was drooping in dullness, she was adorable to behold. I so badly wanted to compliment her yet I halted myself-considering the downcast mood that she was in.

A while later, we both perched in the restaurant and the waiter rushed by upon noting us, "Parotta, chicken gravy, and fried ones," he jotted down the order and looked at Dhana who was zoned out. "Dhana ma, what do you want to have?" She snaps back to reality and gazes at me quietly.

"What did you order?" She asks softly.

"Parotta and chicken curry..." I express while watching her face calculatively. "I'll have the same," the waiter nods his head and shifts from our table.

"Okay...speak up, what's wrong?" She doesn't respond, rather has her head slightly bowed. "Dhana ma," I clutch her hands that remain on the top of the table and squeeze them comfortingly. "Tell me, what happened?" She stares up at me with tear-crammed eyes.

"I've no friends, Puvi. It was my fault, I realized it and tried to rectify it...but no one wants me anymore. I'm alone in there," I rub the back of the hand with my thumb as she vents out. "What about that boy?" She smiles sourly.

"He left me when he understood that he wouldn't have a chance with me," Huh? So the guy indeed had a liking towards Dhana. "He's better gone. Do not be disheartened Dhana ma, you'll eventually find a good friend in your class," she shakes her head.

"No one likes me, Puvi. No one wants to be bothered by me. And even If someone were to be my friend forthwith, it's not easy for me to trust them," tears stream through her cheeks as she expressed it in a painful voice.

I was worried upon seeing her miserable state.

"You were one of the reasons too. I trusted you as well. But you betrayed me! I still can't believe you entirely, Puvi. Each day I wake up with the thought 'Is this the day Puvi is going to hurt me again.' It is tortuous. And what's worse is that I can't find the strength in me to stay away from you even when I know that there's a high possibility of you hurting me again. I'm so pathetic, aren't I? I don't know why I'm so insanely in love with you!" She stops herself as she notices the people's eyes on her and swiftly takes the tissue paper to cleanse her tear-stained cheeks.

I couldn't help but stay mute. What am I supposed to reply to her? I am at fault. All I can do is accept it and try to solve it.

Just then, our order arrived but I wasn't in the mood to consume the food. Dhana, however, began to devour the food as usual.

"Have it. It's hot and yummy," she urges.

"Dhana," she quirks her eyebrows at me. "I love you," she chokes on the food and I quickly drop my palm against her head. After I assist her in calming down, she gulps the water and lends me a slight glare.

"Do not shock me like that while I am eating," I pass her a tiny smile.

"By the way, now that the boy is gone...you don't have a tutor to guide you, do you?" She perks up and meets my eye with a sigh.

"You don't have to be so indirect. You're the only one who can teach me henceforth. But look, you shouldn't behave romantically or try anything of that sort during our studying session. I expect you to be very professional and be my tutor alone," a smile tickles my lips as I watch her.

"No, don't smile in that manner. That isn't convincing. I'm having double thoughts about appointing you in the position of my tutor," she doubts cutely, I smirk internally but showcase a rather stern expression on my exterior.

"I'll be a decent tutor, do not be distressed. The time is from 6.30-8.30 pm. And...I'm quite strict when it comes to studies. If you commit any error, I will punish you," she blinks at me.

"Punish me?" I meagerly nod.

"If you're hinting anything sexual. I'll kill you," dismissing her words, I cooly dig into my food.

"You can gladly do so, Dhana," I offer her a challenging look while she just glowers back at me.

She defeatedly sighs.

"I wanted to stay away from you as much as possible, Puvi...but I can't," she frowns, displeased.

"You can't, yes. Even If you want to, I won't let you stay away from me, Dhana," her eyes studied me intently at my utterances.

"You aren't playing with me, are you?" I nod, positively, causing her to become alerted. "I desire to play with you for a lifetime, Dhana. Hope you would let me do so," I lightly brush my leg with hers underneath the table.

"What is that supposed to mean?" She drags her legs back and furrows her eyebrows at me. "It means that I wish to your husband," her eyes bulged in surprise.

"I don't believe you," I raise my leg and easily lock her both within mine.

"Shall we get married now?" She suspiciously regards me.

"If I say yes, would you really marry me or would you run away at the time of tying the nuptial chain?" Her skeptical query had me purse my lips.

"Dhana," she genuinely smiles, one that rises from her heart.

It brings a smile to my lips as well...
