Ch. 24 - For his wife

Lucy's P.O.V.
“Iyo!” I exclaimed while using my tip toes, trying to reach the books on top of the Library shelf. “Unh! Can't... reach... it--”
My eyes widened when I saw someone else's hand grab it. I looked to my left and saw Erza, handing me the book. “You want this, right?” she asked after fixing her glasses.
“Um, y--yes. Thank you.” I smiled, grabbing the book close to my chest. Just before Erza could go walk away, I tapped her on the shoulder.
“Uh,” I don't know what to say. She fixed her glasses then asked. “Yes?”
“I--I noticed that... you've never had eaten lunch with anyone so, I thought--oh, wait. Do you have anyone you eat lunch with?” I asked hesitatingly.
She shook her head. She smiles then shrugs. “I--I'm fine without any friends. I'm fine with colleagues who help me with school work about the plans for the school activities.”
I frowned at her reply. “That seems... too lonely.”
“Really? Hmm. I really haven't noticed it, though. I'm used to it.” she cleans up the table in front of the shelf and places them back into the shelf.
“Tell you what, you can eat lunch with us.”
Her eyes widened. She shook her head. “N--No.” she declined, which made me feel curious as to why she won't.
“I'm only being friendly here.”
“Don't befriend me just because I helped you with such a little thing. Doing that is not such a huge deal in order for you to befriend me.” she looked at me sharply then went at the back seats of the library where she hung out on her own. Nobody was going near her.
Why would she even think like that?

Levy sipped her Chuckie drink and placed both of her hands on top of the table. “That's a weird way of thinking.” she commented.
“Well, who can blame her? I mean, I did only ask her right after she helped me reach this book.” I placed my chin on the palm of my hand then looked away.
Seeing Lisanna fidgeting as she was coming over to Natsu's table where he was eating lunch with Gray and the others. My eyebrows furrowed at the scene.
“What the hell's going on?” Levy reacted, looking in the same direction.
Lisanna was blushing while she was handing Natsu a home-made bento. Levy gasped when Natsu was scratching the back of his neck and accepted it.
“Ugh.” she looked at me weirdly and gestured me to go after her. “Uhh!”
I shook my head. “whatever. Let him do whatever he wants.” Ignoring Levy's rants about me being an idiot of a wife, I couldn't help but check on Natsu and Lisanna.
That Idiot. How could he let someone flirt wih him even when he knows he's already married--wait a minute.
“Let's just go.” I told Levy as I grabbed my food. She was curious as to why we need to move right now.
“I lost my appetite.”

Natsu's P.O.V.
“N--Natsu...”
Lisanna fidgeted over saying my name. She extended her arms out to hand me something. “I--I, uh, made this bento for you.”
“Oohh... what'cha got there, Natsu?” Loke teased, nudging me by the elbow. He stared at Lisanna from head to toe and bit his lip. “You've caught yourself a big one.”
“S--She's uh,” I look up to Lisanna who was still handing out her home-made bento then turned to see Gray glare at me.
I stood up while scratching the back of my neck and hesitatingly accepted it out of politeness. “Thanks.”
Lisanna bowed then rose up, smiling at me. “Thank you.” after that, she ran off.
Not bothering to open the bento, Loke accepted it and ate it when I handed it to him. Gray stood up, patying me by the shoulder. “We need to talk.”
I look over to the cafeteria and saw Lucy walk out with Levy. She looked upset and... angry.
“Whatever about?”
“It's about you and Lucy.”

Gray dragged me where anyone rarely passes by--behind the boys' locker room. He wiped his whole face then glared at me.
“What the hell are you doing, Natsu?” he asked, angriness recognized by the tone of his voice. “You are fricking married!.” he wanted to shout but he kept it silent.
“Aren't you cheating on Lucy in this state? Huh? I gave up to let you have her. And yet you--you plan to break her heart?”
My eyebrows automatically furrowed.
“Why would she even have her heart broken? She doesn't have any romantic feelings towards me.” he was about to speak but I cut him off. “and it's not called 'cheating'. I'm not in love with Lisanna. She's the one chasing me...”He scoffed. “Well, aren't you the prince charming?” he snorted. “Why don't you do something? Stop her.”
“I--I can't.” I declined.
His eyes widened. He grabbed me by my collar and lifted me up from my feet. “Why the hell not? You are a married man, forced or not, it is still legal. Tell me one good fricking reason why I shouldn't kill you right now.”
“Lucy doesn't want me to reject Lisanna.”
His eyes widened even more. “what?”
“She didn't like the idea of me rejecting Lisanna. She told me to let her like me because she knows how rejection feels.”
Gray dropped me on the floor, completely mortified. He ruffled his hair up then fixes his neck tie, trying to adjust it.
“This I did not expect.” he turned and continued staring me down. “But even so, you should've automatically rejected her!”
“I don't want to.”
“Why the hell not?!”
“Because Lucy, my wife, wishes it. And a husband obeys whatever his wife wants.”
