Ch. 30 - Hubby helped.____________________________________________________________________________
So, there you have it.
Lisanna and I declared our deal. I. Am. Such. An. i.d.i.o.t. to have agreed on that stupid deal on who gets Natsu. I feel so stupid. Damn that stupid pink hair and his cute muffler. Wait--erase that.“Urgh...!” sighing in despair, I buried my face deep into my arms and kept catching my breath down under.
“Heavy for your thoughts.” Someone spoke. The speaker had a deep strict voice so I knew who it was even though I'm not that close with her.
Looking up, I ran a hand through my hair and stared. “Oh, E-Er--Scarlet. It's... you.”
She sighs, letting her shoulder down. She shook her head and sat across me. "Please call me Erza. I'm not much up for formalities, you know?" She smiles softly.
This is the first time I've seen her calm. Hesitating to speak, I back away a bit. "B-But, I-I thought you weren't interested to make friends..?"
She shrugs. “Yeah. That is true.” she rested her head on the table on top of her elbows. “But... there's something about you. It's... I have this gut feeling and I always follow it. This time, my gut is pointing to you. I sense that you are a good person. Someone I can trust. So,” she tucks a strand of hair behind her ear. “Maybe I can give it a try--making friends like you.” she laughs softly.
Laughing at her statement, I almost cried with tears of joy. “Thanks. Really, Erza. I appreciate you for trusting me.” smiling back, she smiled back, too.
“No problem.”
Just when things were starting to get better, my heart suddenly started beating like crazy. It felt like someone was stabbing me. And . . . When I was just about to turn around to see who it was, he/she covered my eyes.
“Who am I?” someone asked in a deep, playful voice.
“Look in the mirror and find out. Duh.” I said sarcastically, trying to muster up my strength to remove whomever these hands belong to.
“Geez, and here I thought you'd be able to recognize me.” the stranger gave up, pupping his hands away from me. Then, showing me his face by sitting beside me.
It was just Natsu. He rested his head in between his arms and pouted. “Oy, why the hell did you slap me earlier?” he asked in a bit irritated voice.
“Not now, Natsu.” I laughed nervously, trying to make Natsu go away. “We'll discuss this later. I'm in the middle of something-”
Erza shook her head. "No. You know what? I'll talk to you tomorrow. Seeing that the transferee's issue is much important, I'll go. We'll talk tomorrow, don't worry. And uh, I hope your conflict will be solved. Alright. See you tomorrow." Erza left as her hair kept swaying behind her as she walked away from our table.
My hands couldn't help but shiver in frustration. I went and looked at Natsu then pulled him by the ear, out of the library then dragged him by the lockers where nobody usually hand out.
“What the hell were you thinking, Natsu?! Couldn't you have, at least, waited till we got home?!” I asked in an angrier tone.
He clucked his tongue and looked above me, ignoring my question. “Why did you slap me?”
My eyes widened. My heartbeat went faster everytime he was scooching next to me. I couldn't help looking away. I covered my face with the palm of my hand to hide my redness.
Feeling the warmth of his hand envelop in mine, he pulled my hand away and the first thing I was able to see was his face looking deeply into my eyes.
Everything seemed to have stopped when we stared at each other. Everything seemed... different.
“Are you sick?”
Oh, goodness gracious me. He ruined the moment when he asked that question and felt my forehead by the palm of his hand. I wanted to move his hand away but... I wanted this. I wanted him to look at me the way he's looking at me right now--full of concern and worried for me. Like... like a true... h-hus--
I cut myself off and shook my head even though I was just monologuing inside my brain. What are you thinking about, Lucy? If someone sees you two like this, they'll definitely think something's going on between the teo of you.
“U-Uh, c-can we just talk about... that slapping issue later? I-I feel like I'm having a hard time explaining this.”
He nodded. He stood up and held out his hand, reaching mine. My hand automatically held his then he escorted me towards the stairs. “W-What are you...?”
“Just go with it. I'm just helping you. Who knowd when you'll faint. I can't let that happen.” he told me as he slowly helped me climb up the stairs.
I couldn't help but stare at him as we got upstairs. Then I looked down to avoid his gaze. “Y-You don't have to help me with every little thing, you know. I'm an independent girl. I can take care of myself-”
I wasn't even done talking yet my back felt cold when he let go. We were at the second floor stair and the whole world was spinning at my gaze. I felt... light-headed.
Then, got caught by my back.
“See my point?” Natsu asked in a worried but strict voice. “Stop being melodramatic and just let people worried about you, help you.”
Letting him take me into the classroom, I sat in front of his seat then he sat next to me. “T-Thanks...” I thanked him in return.
He's so close to me.
I could feel his breath breathe under my neck. It feels so hot. Broiling hot! What kind of temperature does he have?! It feels like fire burning my skin.
