I was awake before almost everyone the next morning, the only person being up and about, cooking himself breakfast in the kitchen was Tony, but then I was also half convinced that that man never actually needed sleep, so did he count? "Morning, Tony." I said with a small smile as I hopped onto one of the bar stools at the kitchen table, watching as the man flipped a pancake. It was a strange sight, because the movies would never have shown such a small detail of the avengers lives if it hadn't contained a crucial realisation, or conversation of sorts written into it. I mean, of course, that was because thats just how movies are made, but it was still incredible just sitting there, watching, in his one words, genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist, Tony Stark causally cook himself some pancakes.

"Good morning, kid. You want pancakes?" He asked, and I smiled, saying I'd take one, before forcing myself to get to what I knew I had to tell him at some point, but couldn't really get myself to speak about. I waited until he was done making the pancakes, handing me one before taking his own and then turning the stone off.

"Okay, Tony, I'm going to need you to here me out about something, alright? This... this is something I've got to tell you about before we... try recruit a certain person. Now, before I say anything, I need to tell you that, uh, you taking this news badly is what almost leads to the avengers breaking up. Hell, it does lead to you guys breaking up for a while. I just... it doesn't feel like something I should be talking about—or something that I even have the right to be talking about. But at the same time, I know one of the biggest reasons you get mad about it in the movie is because a few people... kept it from you. So, if I do tell you about this, please promise me you'll at least try and think it over once rationally before making any decisions?"

Tony was now watching me with a confused and slightly suspicious look on his face as he cut up his pancake. "Alright, you're freaking me out now, Devoe. Just spit it out, I promise I won't go all crazy on you if you don't tell me you, I dont know... killed someone." His last words hit a bit too closely for multiple reasons, and the man placed his fork down in shock as he noticed my expression. "No, no don't tell me you... oh my god I meant it as a joke! A joke. I take it back, I don't want to hear your secret. Keep it, I don't want it."

I sighed, pressing my face into my hands as I mumbled out my next few words, "Well, it wasn't exactly me. No, what am I saying, I didn't kill anyone, Tony. But... you're going to want to hear this, even though you're not going to like it. At all." I lifted my head out of my hands just enough to see Tony sigh, nodding his head slightly in defeat. "I-It's actually about your parents, uh, Zemo basically found out who... who killed them, and showed you the video during Civil War, which is the next movie in the timeline. But uhm, the reason I needed to tell you was... it was the Winter Soldier, Tony. But it was the Winter Soldier! Tony, it wasn't him in there. It wasn't Bucky."

I watched in absolute terror as Tony's face went stone cold, and I couldn't read his frozen expression for a good few seconds before I saw him grit his teeth, his hold on his fork and knife tightening as he looked down again to pick up cutting his food up once again in silence. I didn't dare say a word until he finally decided to respond. "And what do you want me to say to that, Elaina? You want me to just-just accept that!? You want me to welcome that man onto the team knowing he-he did that... to them?" I had never heard the man sound so angry and cold other than when he'd watched that video in the movie, so I really should have known what was going to come, but I was still holding my breath.

"No, no, I don't expect you to forgive him just like that, Tony. I can't say I understand what it must feel like, but I can try to at least. All I'm asking of you, is... don't try kill Bucky or something. Tolerate him when we go after him, and... even in the movies, as unbelievable as it sounds, you don't hate him for long. I know that sounds impossible right now, but... it happens. I-I just thought I should get it out of the way before we go after Bucky and some other people we're going to need, to hopefully make things go smoother even though I thought it may have been Bucky's story to tell you. I'm really sorry if this whole thing just comes off as if I'm trying to fix things I shouldn't be meddling in, god, Tony, I have no clue what I'm doing here. But I genuinely care about all of you guys, a lot, and I just want what's best for you."
