It had barely been thirteen hours since we'd gotten back to the compound, and now the sun was setting again and we were getting ready for a party... again. Tony had promised to keep it 'simple' in his words, which we all knew meant at least fifty people, but the only thing I was looking forward to was knowing Wanda and Pietro would get to experience the night with us. They hadn't been the happiest at the idea of a celebration, but they had agreed to be there nonetheless, and I had to keep reminding myself that... they were still teenagers who had had the weight of the world thrown on them. Hell, they were probably a good few years younger than I was, and I was only twenty.

I had slipped on another black dress, this one longer and more formal than the last, and was just about finished applying my makeup for the night when Natasha came rushing into my room, unbothered to knock, it seemed. I turned to her in shock, ready to tell her off for just barging in here when I could have still been changing, but my look of annoyance changed to worry almost immediately when I saw the expression on her face. "What? What happened, Natasha?" I asked, putting down my lipstick on my table and moving to where she was standing.

"I'm honestly not sure, Tony told me to come get you. Elaina, Loki just turned up at the front door. Thor apparently spoke to him, and he's here at Odin's request. I don't know any other details, but Stark wanted to to ask you if this is something that took place in your movies, since you never mentioned it. It.. this is meant to happen, right?" I could only shake my head in pure shock as I moved past the red head to make my way to the lift, Natasha following close behind. A few minutes later we were standing at the entrance to the avengers tower and Loki was indeed, standing there.

"W-what? What are you doing here? How..." I didn't know what to say. He didn't look angry or anything, but he didn't look exactly pleased either. He was just standing there, hands behind his back all formally. This wasn't meant to happen, I knew that much for sure. If Thor's bother had just randomly shown up one fine day at the avengers compound somewhere between the events of Age of Ultron and Civil War, I was almost certain that it would have been mentioned in the movies. So... how was he here? What had I messed up bad enough to have the god of mischief standing in front of me?

Loki smiled in his usual smug way, but I could tell something was off as he raised his arms slowly. "Trust me, I am as happy about this turn of events as you all are. But... Odin has requested I stay here for a while. This is not some sort of trick of my behalf, I'm afraid. No, the Allfather does not feel it wise to have me living on Asgard while you plan to collect the infinity stones and keep them there for safe guarding, so I have been sent... here. If you so wish to change that, by all means, take it up with him. I would only be grateful to get out of here as soon as possible."

I looked to Tony, who was standing at the door, shaking my head slightly, letting him know that this wasn't meant to be happening. But, after all... I couldn't exactly fight Odin's reasoning on the matter. Sure I knew Loki wasn't all bad, but there was always the chance he decided to grab one of the stones for the hell of it once again. I didn't believe he would actually want to cause harm to the world anymore, but I did trust he could easily cause harm to people without realising he was doing something wrong. "No, Odin isn't wrong." I finally found my voice, making Loki raise an eyebrow and look at me, while Tony, Thor and Natasha all just looked confused. "He can come in. And no, this doesn't happen in the movies, but I was aware that some things would have to change for this to work out. He isn't here to hurt anyone, that much I know." I almost laughed at how upset Loki looked at that last bit I'd thrown in there, as if I had called him out against his will.

Tony was silent for a second, before sighing as he moved to one side, holding his arms out to usher Loki inside. "Well then, by all means, be my guest. Since now apparently we're housing mass murder-OW. Yes, yes come in." The billionaire corrected when I elbowed his arm, annoyed. It wasn't really fair to get upset with Loki when he didn't want to be here, if he wanted to be here. That was one thing which was confusing me a lot, and I needed answers as soon as the man was inside.
