tw/ basic music taste (don't hate me)

"How much further did you say his place was, again?" I asked Tony for what felt like the hundredth time, unable to stop tapping my foot on the side of the car door as I started out of the window, feeling my anxiousness rise by the second. I couldn't help keep tugging at the dark teal top I was wearing, even though it was one of the most comfortable things I'd ever worn—the thought of even meeting Peter Parker and May being enough to send me into a fit of nerves. I knew that out of the whole group, Peter Parker was definitely one of the people who should have felt the least intimidating to meet, but something about the idea of just rolling up to his apartment with Tony Stark felt wrong.

Tony sighed, turning down the blaring music a bit to reply to me. "Kid, you just asked that exact question not even ten minutes ago, another... ten to fifteen minutes, I'd guess. You've been worrying about how long's left since we got in the car—relax for a bit. Enjoy the music." He cranked the radio to full again and I rested my head against the back of the seat, trying to listen to his advise. But that still didn't stop my heart from starting to race the second he slowed the car and we finally got out, making our way up two floors before we were outside Peter's house.

I took a deep breath before ringing the doorbell, and within what felt like seconds Aunt May was at the door, a slightly confused smile on her face as she looked at me—the smile turning into one of shock when she say Tony standing a bit further behind. "Mr. Stark! W-what are you doing here!? Is this about Peter? C-come on in!" She swung open the door and ushered us both into the small yet cozy house. "Make yourselves comfortable on the couch's over there—I'll just go grab Peter. This is about something to do with him, right?" She confirmed, and when Tony nodded, ran off into an adjoining room.

Barely ten seconds had passed when I heard a confused yell of some sorts in Peter's voice, before the young brown haired boy came rushing out of his room—hair comb still clutched awkwardly in one hand as May followed him out a few seconds later. It was sweet to see the look of awe on his face when Peter saw Tony sitting so casually in his house. "Mr. Stark... I-I'm... It's such an honour to meet you, sir, really. If I may ask... h-how are you in my living room? What exactly are you doing here? Can I help you in some way?" His gaze flitted to me for a second, and I almost laughed at the confused look that flashed across his face. "And you must be...?" I could tell the poor boy was scared—as if he was doing something wrong by not recognising me.

I smiled to let him know that he was in no trouble whatsoever. "Hello Peter, my name's Elaina—and I would hope you don't know who I am, as thought would mean my cover has been blown and I'm in immediate danger of being killed, so don't worry. I... work with Tony and the avengers, in a way—and today, we're here to add another member to the team... if they agree." Tony gave me a look as if he disapproved of how quickly I was agreeing to letting Peter join the team, but I didn't have it in me to dance around the real reason we were here—and besides, I knew how everything played out, and how that no matter what happened, Peter would indeed join the team sooner than later.

But I was more focused on the look of pure shock, leaning almost into terror that painted over Peter's face at my words. It looked as if he was going to faint for a second, but instead he managed to lower himself onto the couch opposite from Tony and I when a slight thud. Aunt May was looking just as confused as him as she came to sit next to the boy. Tony sighed, giving in eventually and taking over the conversation so I didn't scare Peter anymore as I smiled, knowing that he wouldn't have been able to sit on the sidelines and let me do the talking anyway. "She is telling the truth, Mister Parker. You see, Miss Devoe isn't exactly from this world—and before you start thinking her someone with superpowers, no, she is simply from the future." I had to bite my lip to stop myself from bursting out in laughter at the look on Peters face—so maybe Tony wasn't great at this either. "No—she traveled universes against her will, and is now in this timeline, six years behind where she used to live. Thing is... the avengers don't exist in her world, but we are apparently a very popular movie franchise instead. Miss Devoe has been helping us get matters under control in this world as she knows exactly what we have in store for us in the next few years. One such thing, being your addition to the team... as Spiderman, I think she called it."
