I had to make a conscious effort to not laugh at Yelena's... unique nickname for Doctor Strange as I followed her back into the communications room, where only Tony had been sitting, yet a few seconds later the room was filling up with people entering from all sides—everyone gathering around the screen that Tony was looking at. It indeed seemed that Strange had gotten hold of the Time stone, finally. "So... what's the plan, kid? We traveling to Katmandu next? Or... where even is this Strange man right now?"
I sighed, narrowing my eyes as I tried to remember what happened after he got the stone. "Uh, he lives in this place called the Sanctum Sanctorum, House of Magic. Where that is located exactly? I'm not sure... but I think its somewhere in new york. I'll leave that bit up to you guys, but once you find out where his place is... I'll go pay the man a visit." I found myself hoping that it would take Tony a few days to find Strange's residence, and so it was a bit of a surprise when he came knocking at my bedroom door a few hours later.
"Hey kid, I think I have a location. Do you want any of us to come with you? Or... is this a thing you would rather do alone?" I bit my lip as I look the tablet from Tony to see the directions still open to a place quite nearby to where we were staying. Did I want to go try get an infinity stone from the sorcerer supreme alone? No, not really. But did I think that there were probably higher chances of actually coming back home with the stone if I went alone? Probably.
"I... I'll go alone, it's alright. I think I'll be needing to take Loki and Thor to his place in a few weeks anyway, so it'll be good practice." Thankfully Tony didn't question what I meant by that and just nodded, leaving me to get ready to venture out as quickly as I could. Less than ten minutes later I was in the front lawn of the compound, hopping into one of Tony's cars and driving out after waving goodbye to Natasha who had come to whish me good luck. I realised that this was the first time I was driving since I'd reached this universe, and even though Elaina Evonne Devoe was very much still only fourteen in this world, Tony had managed to get me a license that looked pretty damn real, so I didn't question it. The drive was around ten minutes long, and I'd barely listened to three songs by the time I reached Doctor Strange's house.
Getting out of the car and walking to the front doors of a place I had seen so many times on a screen felt just as surreal as it had been to walk into the avengers compound a few weeks ago. I had barely raised my hand up to knock on the huge wooden door, as there was no doorbell, when the door swung open before I could even touch it. Great. I had to basically force myself to walk past the threshold and into the house, where none other than one Stephen Strange was standing at the bottom of the two staircases leading up, in full costume and everything. "Elaina Devoe... I have been expecting a visit from you for a while, now."
I blinked back the shock I didn't want him to see that rushed through my head at his words—words that I had not been expecting him to say. "I guess no introduction is needed on either of our parts, then. How do you know who I am, if I may ask?"
Strange's demeanor relaxed slightly at my words as he stepped a bit closer. "When the whole future of a universe I am residing in suddenly chooses to rewrite itself before my very eyes, it usually makes me mildly curious as to what or who is the reason for that. Ever since you arrived here, there are things constantly switching around and changing in the life paths of a lot of people, Miss Devoe. I know... or knew, the future of a lot of people, and I know that you do as well. In a way, we are similar, the only difference is that what you know is the events of the avengers without you being part of the story—I can see what happens with you here. But, time is a funny thing... pretty much every sentence you speak changes the future a bit, so there is really no way for any of us to know what is going to happen to... anyone. Thanks to you."
