Suddenly, Yang Qiong saw the leading officer receive a phone call and turned to walk away. She quietly retreated without making a sound. In the tense situation, her movement went unnoticed by everyone except Shen Qiuhua.
The officer moved to a more secluded area to receive instructions from his superiors. Before he could finish speaking, he felt a rush of wind behind him. His reaction was quick. He didn't look back but ran forward a few steps to dodge the attack. When he turned around, he was met with a punch and a hand strike that knocked him down.
Yang Qiong paid no more attention to the officer and directly pulled the gun from his holster, concealing it in her uniform sleeve as she rejoined the crowd. Since this happened in a concealed area, no one had noticed yet.
Shen Qiuhua couldn't see this, but she noticed Yang Qiong's return and her face changed from the intense determination she had earlier. The look of confidence and resolve was what Yang Qiong had whenever she was about to draw her Moon Reflection Sword.
Yang Qiong knew she didn't have much time. She chose a good angle for shooting, keeping her eyes on Shen Qiuhua, who was also looking back at her. Their gazes met, and all their unspoken words were exchanged in that silent connection.
"Qiuhua, trust me. I will save you."
"I believe you. I have always believed."
Yang Qiong tilted her head to the right, then narrowed her eyes, making a questioning expression. Shen Qiuhua dared not move, merely slightly pursed her lips and blinked to signal her understanding.
Yang Qiong was cautious, looking around to assess the environment and the shooting angle before she acted without hesitation. She raised the gun and aimed at the light fixture on the ceiling.
With a loud "crack," the light fixture shattered, creating a huge noise. The falling glass scattered everywhere. Everyone, including the assailant, instinctively looked up. Only Shen Qiuhua, who understood Yang Qiong's intention, immediately turned her head to the right. Yang Qiong's hand was steady, she knew this was her only chance with the illegal possession of the firearm.
She aimed, her pupils constricted. All the commotion around her became irrelevant. Her mind was focused solely on the target.
A gunshot rang out.
At the same moment as the shot, Yang Qiong shot forward like an arrow.
One shot to the head, instant death.
Shen Qiuhua instinctively turned to look but was quickly shielded by Yang Qiong's hand. "Don't look."
The scene erupted into chaos, with numerous guns aimed at Yang Qiong.
Yang Qiong dropped the gun on the ground and raised her hands high, making no other movements.
Shen Qiuhua's face turned pale, a stark contrast to her previous calm demeanor when she was in danger. She looked at the police and then at Yang Qiong, unable to understand why things had come to this.
"It's alright. Don't worry." As Yang Qiong spoke, she was already handcuffed and taken away.
"Hey! Officer, she was saving people!" Principal Wang rushed over and grabbed a nearby officer.
"She is suspected of assaulting an officer, stealing firearms, and shooting indiscriminately among other charges. She must be taken in for investigation," the officer said sternly.
Shen Qiuhua watched Yang Qiong being taken away and suddenly felt that in modern times, she was powerless to do anything. Previously, she thought that being a palace consort in her past life was a significant constraint, but now she realized that her current status as a commoner left her with nothing but a silver tongue that couldn't speak for her.
