At this moment, the waiter entered the room with the dishes. The entire room was filled with awkwardness. As each dish was placed on the table, no one moved their chopsticks.
"Mom, don't be sad," Shen Qiuhua first comforted her mother. Then she looked up at Auntie and said, "Auntie, we're all family, so why be like this?" She turned to Liu Manzhi and added, "Cousin, sit down and eat properly."
The people were all somewhat stunned. They didn't understand how Shen Qiuhua could shift from tense to calm so quickly.
In Shen Qiuhua's eyes, these matters were trivial. For someone who had seen grand affairs and experienced much, these small grievances didn't even merit an explanation, especially considering her mother's feelings.
Today's setup was merely to teach Liu Manzhi and her daughter a lesson. Once the lesson was learned, that was it. After all, they were relatives—would they cut off all ties? It wasn't such a big deal.
"No! I can't eat this meal!" Auntie said angrily. "Qiuhua, if you don't make things clear, there's no way we can continue as relatives."
"If you can't eat, please leave," unexpectedly, Shen Qiuhua did not continue to persuade but said coldly with barely a glance.
"You little brat!" Auntie stood up and stormed over to Shen Qiuhua. "You're an ungrateful ingrate! How did I treat you when you were a child?"
Shen Qiuhua raised her eyes. "Auntie, I remember how you treated me well when I was young, but that doesn't give you the right to spread rumors and slander me. Manzhi is your daughter, and you can treat her well but don't use that to elevate her by suppressing me. No one is destined to be a stepping stone for your daughter."
Seeing Auntie confronting Shen Qiuhua, Liu Manzhi also moved to the table. "Shen Qiuhua, you keep saying we're spreading rumors, but it's just because you're bullying us without evidence. Does it even need evidence for your matters? Didn't you start messing with men back in school? Otherwise, how did you get into trouble? How did Lu Shaojie end up in prison for saving you? It's clear he still can't forget you by how he treats you now! If you didn't give him something in return, who would help you like this? Are you willing to go to the hospital with me to get checked if you're still a virgin?"
At these words, everyone's expression changed. Yang Qiong looked at Shen Qiuhua, and her previous curiosity turned to concern.
Shen Qiuhua was already her person, so how could she still be a virgin? But these rumors Liu Manzhi spoke of had nothing to do with the actual situation.
Shen Qiuhua was also startled. She narrowed her eyes at Liu Manzhi, and the glint in her eyes made Liu Manzhi unwilling to meet her gaze. "Are you scared? You've probably been played with long ago," Liu Manzhi, in an attempt to show her dominance, began to speak indiscriminately.
"You truly are my good cousin, speaking like this in front of me shows how nasty you must be behind my back," Shen Qiuhua said with a disdainful attitude, looking at Liu Manzhi as if she were an ant. "If you want me to go to the hospital with you, I'll go. But then what? If it proves I'm still a virgin, what will you do?"
Liu Manzhi took a step back, intimidated by Shen Qiuhua's powerful presence. "W... what else can I do? Then I'll just believe you."
Shen Qiuhua's lips curled up into a mocking smile. "Your belief? Do I care about that?"
"What do you want then?" Liu Manzhi shouted.
Shen Qiuhua's smile froze, her eyebrows slightly raised. "Never appear in front of me again. No matter where or when, if I show up, you must avoid me immediately."
