That evening, after Yang Qiong finished her bath, Shen Qiuhua prepared the bed.
"Without me at night, how will you sleep?" Yang Qiong, acting as a human heater, was quite aware of her role.
"I was thinking of you while sleeping," Shen Qiuhua no longer resisted such intimate words between lovers. If you like someone, you should express it. Why hold back and keep your true feelings hidden just because of formality?
Yang Qiong was immensely pleased with this answer. She immediately cuddled up with Shen Qiuhua under the covers. 'Every moment is precious, it must not be wasted.'
Shen Qiuhua was both amused and exasperated by Yang Qiong's eagerness. She held Yang Qiong's hand and said, "You're tired, so you should rest first. I'll make it up to you tomorrow." To get the big bad wolf to back off, you naturally need to offer a big lure.
Yang Qiong's eyes sparkled with joy. She was indeed very tired, having not had a proper rest for some time. Even if it weren't for Shen Qiuhua, she was there to protect, not to sleep.
As Shen Qiuhua listened to Yang Qiong's steady breathing, she knew she had fallen asleep. The arms wrapped around her remained warm and strong. It was this person who had saved her again today. Of course, the two need not mention the night's events again. Shen Qiuhua believed Yang Qiong would always protect her, and Yang Qiong believed that actions speak louder than words.
Shen Qiuhua slowly turned to face Yang Qiong. Yang Qiong seemed to sense this, tightening her embrace around Shen Qiuhua's waist. Shen Qiuhua smiled indulgently, snuggling into Yang Qiong's arms, and closed her eyes contentedly.
The next morning, Shen Qiuhua realized just how exhausted Yang Qiong was. Yang Qiong had hardly moved all night and, being an early riser had not woken up yet.
"Thank you for your hard work," Shen Qiuhua propped herself up, carefully observing Yang Qiong's sleeping face. Such opportunities were rare. Yang Qiong usually woke up before her, and more often, it was Yang Qiong watching her.
Yang Qiong's hair had grown a bit long, and as she lay on her side, the hair at the front fell across her forehead. Her eyes were closed, her expression relaxed. With her straight nose and slightly parted lips, Yang Qiong looked very innocent and childlike, sleeping unguardedly.
"So you have such a vulnerable side too," Shen Qiuhua found it amusing. Although they were both women, Yang Qiong always gave her the impression of strength and speed.
Seeing Yang Qiong like this, Shen Qiuhua's playful side emerged. She reached out and gently pinched Yang Qiong's ear, shaking it playfully. "Even your ears are so stiff, it shows you're quite stubborn."
Someone knocked on the door from outside. Shen Qiuhua, feeling a bit guilty, quickly withdrew her hand and tiptoed to open the door. It was Mother Shen standing outside. "I just received a call. Your father and I are going to a funeral and probably won't be back until evening. There's food in the pot, so remember to heat it before eating."
Shen Qiuhua nodded. "It's cold outside, dress warmly."
"Got it. Don't forget to eat on time."
After her mother left, Shen Qiuhua glanced back at the still-sleeping Yang Qiong, unsure how much longer she would sleep, and decided to heat the food first.
It wasn't until noon that Yang Qiong finally woke up. Shen Qiuhua's stomach was growling with hunger. With no one else at home, and seeing Yang Qiong's exhaustion, she brought the food to their room.
Yang Qiong looked at Shen Qiuhua, who was wiping her hands and face with a damp towel, with blinking eyes, somewhat dazed.
"What are you thinking about?"
