Shen Qiuhua shook her head helplessly. This girl was just a spoiled child, arrogant because of her wealthy family. But without their protection, she was pathetically weak and vulnerable.
"Can you tell the truth now? My patience is limited, and it's best not to make me question your sincerity again." Since the other party had already lowered her stance, Shen Qiuhua took full advantage, looking down on Chen Siqi and completely overpowering her with her presence.
"Alright," Chen Siqi pouted, looking like she'd been bullied.
The beginning of the story was similar to what Chen Siqi had mentioned before, but the details about their separation were different. Chen Siqi said that Qiu Yang had deliberately caused them to get separated from their friends, and later he even admitted to it. After the separation, they had a feeling of depending on each other for survival. Chen Siqi didn't find anything wrong with this situation at the time, in fact, she secretly had feelings for Qiu Yang.
That night, they camped together, and things naturally developed into a physical relationship. When she got to this point, Chen Siqi hesitated. Even though she liked to have fun, she was still quite conservative when it came to matters like this. Otherwise, Qiu Yang wouldn't have had a chance. But that night, she couldn't control herself for some reason. Late at night, she woke up and saw Qiu Yang rummaging through her backpack near the edge of the mountain, seemingly searching for something. She called out to him, and in his panic, he lost his footing and fell, taking her backpack with him. She was terrified and didn't know how to react. After she calmed down, she thought about going down to check, but it was the middle of the night, dark, and the mountain was steep and covered in dense forest. She couldn't go down. By the time it was daylight and she wanted to go down, her friends had already found her. Her mind was in a fog the whole time, and she kept thinking that if she told anyone, people would assume she had killed Qiu Yang, since she was the only one with him when he died.
After hearing this, Shen Qiuhua was a little surprised. Surprised that it was all so simple! If it was this simple, why hadn't this young lady just said it outright instead of being so hesitant?
"Are you telling the truth this time?"
"I really am!" Chen Siqi said earnestly.
"And what about the messages? What's going on with them?"
At the mention of the messages, Chen Siqi's face filled with terror. "At first, I was just receiving casual messages, nothing important. But later, Qiu Yang started threatening me, saying I killed him and that he was coming back to haunt me. Then he claimed he'd died unjustly and was being bullied by little ghosts in the underworld, asking me to burn paper money for him. I secretly burned a lot of paper money for him, but then he said it wasn't enough and that he needed real money. And he wanted two million in one go. Where am I supposed to get that much money? So I stalled, and then the messages stopped."
The general situation was more or less what Shen Qiuhua had guessed. She asked, "If it's alright with you, can I take a look at your phone messages?"
By now, Chen Siqi was behaving like a well-behaved little girl, and she handed her phone over. Shen Qiuhua skimmed through the messages Qiu Yang had sent, which indeed matched what Chen Siqi had described. After reviewing them, she handed the phone back.
"What's the deal with that statue?" Shen Qiuhua asked, pointing to the Astéria figure on the bookshelf.
"That was a gift from Qiu Yang. He said I was like the goddess of the night sky, shining in the dark." Chen Siqi's face turned red as she said this, showing that she had genuinely been in love with Qiu Yang at one point.
"Can I take it with me?"
Chen Siqi went over, grabbed the Astéria statue, and handed it to Shen Qiuhua. "As long as you can help me solve this, you can take whatever you want." Seeing Shen Qiuhua heading for the door, she quickly followed and asked in a small voice, "Are you a police officer?"
