Erhong nodded. "She married Uncle Yang Ping this spring. She just had a baby a few days ago. I even went to see it!" The little girl spoke with pride, as if visiting the newborn was some grand achievement.

"She had a baby?" Yang Qiong almost choked on her own saliva. Married in the spring and already had a baby by summer? Who were they trying to fool? But there was no point explaining that to a child. Besides, it was none of her business anyway.

"Is Auntie Shen married?" Erhong asked, gazing down at Shen Qiuhua's sleeping face.

"Uh..." Yang Qiong dragged out the sound, unsure how to answer. If she said no, then what would that make her? But if she said yes, they didn't even have a marriage certificate. It was one of those awkward dilemmas that came with same-sex relationships.

Erhong didn't seem to mind Yang Qiong's hesitation. "Will Auntie Shen have children in the future?"

Yang Qiong was left speechless again.

"Her children would definitely be beautiful. Just like Auntie Shen." Erhong's eyes squinted with a smile as she spoke.

Yang Qiong looked down at Shen Qiuhua. Yes, if they were Shen Qiuhua's children, regardless of gender, they would surely be beautiful. Too bad she's with me.

People in the mountains rise early. Before dawn had even broken, the rooster behind the house started crowing, one call after another, driving anyone trying to sleep to the brink of madness.

"I'm going to kill that rooster later," Yang Qiong grumbled in frustration.

Shen Qiuhua woke up, feeling a soreness throughout her body. After spending a day walking around, it was only natural for someone who rarely exercised to feel this way. She buried her face in Yang Qiong's chest as if determined not to get up.

"Hey, hey, Qiuhua, don't use this as an excuse to take advantage of me," Yang Qiong whispered.

Shen Qiuhua blushed, suddenly remembering they weren't at her own home. Yang Qiong's teasing could easily be misunderstood here. She quickly lifted her head, glancing over to check on Erhong.

But Erhong's spot was already empty. "She got up long ago. She's out with my second sister-in-law, gathering firewood on the mountain," Yang Qiong said. Her vigilance was high—she had noticed Erhong leave right after the first rooster crow.

"It's hard for such a young child to be doing all that," Shen Qiuhua said, finally relaxing a bit now that the rooster had stopped crowing.

"That's just how life is for kids in the mountains." Yang Qiong didn't think much of it. After all, she had started doing those chores when she was even younger than Erhong.

Shen Qiuhua moved her arms, wincing at the soreness. She frowned involuntarily. Yang Qiong's hand was already reaching over. "You don't exercise enough, so it's no wonder you feel this way." With that, she began massaging Shen Qiuhua's shoulders.

Yang Qiong's hands were strong, and the massage felt incredibly soothing. Shen Qiuhua, already drowsy, drifted off to sleep again. Watching her sleep so peacefully and defenselessly, Yang Qiong couldn't resist planting a kiss on her. Shen Qiuhua, not fully asleep, seemed to smile in response, which only made Yang Qiong feel more restless, her hands beginning to roam.

Shen Qiuhua had gotten used to this. After all, she belonged to Yang Qiong, so she let her be. She could sense that Yang Qiong's movements were gentle, not wanting to disturb her. Thinking drowsily about it, Shen Qiuhua finally fell into a deep sleep.

When Erhong came back into the room, Yang Qiong was already up, but Shen Qiuhua was still fast asleep.

"Auntie Shen is really tired! She's still not awake," Erhong remarked in surprise.
