It was a hot day, and Shen Qiuhua noticed sweat running down Yang Qiong's forehead. She quickly took out a tissue to wipe it away.

'Having a wife is really great!' Yang Qiong thought happily.

The train soon arrived, and the two of them dragged their luggage onboard. This was Shen Qiuhua's first time on a train, and she found everything fascinating. However, being a reserved person, she didn't show it. The other two seats in the compartment were still empty. Yang Qiong busied herself putting their luggage away. Once everything was settled, she pulled Shen Qiuhua down to sit on the lower bunk.

"Be mindful while we're outside," Shen Qiuhua said, brushing off Yang Qiong's hand that had wrapped around her waist, cautioning her.

"I'm just used to it," Yang Qiong said with a hint of grievance. She was so accustomed to holding Shen Qiuhua that her hand naturally fell there-how could she change that?

"Our situation is ultimately not accepted by the world. As long as we share affection for each other, it's fine, but we shouldn't let others notice," Shen Qiuhua sighed. Even after a thousand years, same-sex love was still not accepted by society. Thinking about it, nothing had changed between this life and the past.

"I've wronged you," Yang Qiong said, feeling sorry for her. The fact that their love couldn't be out in the open made it hard for them to last this long.

Shen Qiuhua shook her head. "Haven't you suffered the same? We are both women, so we must share the hardships equally."

Despite this, Yang Qiong couldn't resist placing her hand on Shen Qiuhua's shoulder. Qiuhua glanced at her but said nothing. They took out an iPad and started watching a movie together, exchanging comments now and then, which made the journey feel less lonely.

Soon, it was noon, and the other two seats were still empty. Yang Qiong guessed that no one else would be joining. "This is perfect. I was worried that we'd feel awkward if two other people came. Now we have our little private space, and we don't need to worry about anyone bothering us."

Shen Qiuhua also liked the situation. She naturally disliked strangers, so this gave her peace of mind. For lunch, they ate instant noodles. Since they didn't usually eat them, having them once in a while felt surprisingly good.

The train's air conditioning was strong, and Shen Qiuhua, being sensitive to cold, didn't eat much of the noodles but drank most of the soup.

"Qiuhua, you know how to drink," Yang Qiong joked, shaking her head. Drinking all that broth would only make her hungry again later.

As expected, around 2pm,Shen Qiuhua's stomach started rumbling. They were talking at the time, and the sudden sound made Shen Qiuhua blush, while Yang Qiong burst out laughing.

"Didn't I say you'd get hungry?" Yang Qiong chuckled, looking at Shen Qiuhua's embarrassed face. She stopped laughing and rummaged through her backpack, pulling out a piece of bread and a sausage. "Good thing I came prepared." She didn't hand them over right away but first opened the packages herself before giving them to Shen Qiuhua.

Ever since learning that frequent use of her hands could cause her joints to swell, Shen Qiuhua had barely done any strenuous tasks in front of Yang Qiong. Yang Qiong knew she couldn't give Shen Qiuhua the lavish treatment of a favored consort from her past life, but she wanted to show her that her heart was in the right place.

'I can't give you the whole world, but I can give you my all.'

Shen Qiuhua ate the bread and drank the hot water Yang Qiong had prepared, looking entirely content. She seemed like a lazy cat basking in the sun-adorable and alluring, making Yang Qiong want to protect and spoil her.
