From the moment Yang Qiong stepped out, she had been searching for Shen Qiuhua, and she had noticed the change in her expression just now. Seeing the man in front of her making a suspicious move and hearing Shen Qiuhua's shout, Yang Qiong swiftly swung her arm, sending a flash of cold steel flying through the air.

"Ah!" The man screamed in pain. His right hand, which had been reaching for his waist, was now pierced by a steak knife.

The sudden turn of events didn't throw the police officers off— they quickly subdued the man. The other people who had come out were also checked one by one.

"Are you okay?" Shen Qiuhua and Yang Qiong asked simultaneously.

"I'm fine." Again, they spoke in unison.

The busy police officers nearby shot them sideways glances. Were they showing off their affection or their synchronization?

Director Jin was directing the police to wrap things up and then came over to Shen Qiuhua, saying, "Xiao Shen, you've got sharp eyes... just like us police."

"Not like I care!" Yang Qiong said dismissively. "Make sure you apply for a bonus, and it should be double this time." With that, she grabbed Shen Qiuhua and started to walk away.

"Is she worried you'll nag her again about joining the police force?" Captain He said with a chuckle.

"You saw it too, if she weren't so reckless, she would've joined long ago," Director Jin sighed.

"Maybe she never intended to join in the first place."

Director Jin paused at that, then nodded thoughtfully. Yang Qiong had been someone he recognized as a fierce warrior from the first time he saw her. She was diligent in her training, skilled in her duties, and most importantly, she was tough and fearless— always the first to charge in at critical moments. But because of this reckless bravery, once on a mission, she was like a wild horse that couldn't be reined in. The military's strict discipline didn't allow for such behavior, and Director Jin had faced plenty of criticism for Yang Qiong's lack of discipline. For a while, he felt it was unfair, but then he realized that the commendations he received were also thanks to Yang Qiong's efforts. In the end, it balanced out.

Finding a soldier who was both skilled and intelligent was rare, so her lack of discipline could be overlooked.

"This girl hasn't changed a bit after all these years, not an ounce of growth!"

By then, Yang Qiong and Shen Qiuhua had dashed off into the distance.

"No one's chasing us, you can stop running now," Shen Qiuhua said, half laughing, half exasperated.

Yang Qiong turned around, "I'm telling you, it's not Director Jin that worries me. I'm like a dead pig unafraid of boiling water, but I'm scared he might set his sights on you. So, we need to keep our distance from him."

"A dead pig unafraid of boiling water?" Shen Qiuhua looked at her, amused and a little exasperated.

"You're the only one who treasures me. Don't think everyone's like you."

"You are a treasure, and if they don't see it, that's their loss."

On their way home, Shen Qiuhua remembered something. "What was that knife move earlier?"

"Well, what else could I do? What does a fast-food restaurant have? I couldn't just smash a plate over his head, could I? And take him down in one move? Meanwhile, those four SWAT officers were fully armed," Yang Qiong said, her tone now much more relaxed. She was serious during missions, but afterward, she didn't take anything too seriously. In truth, she just didn't want Shen Qiuhua to worry.
