˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗ By the end of their shift, Kat and Robin figured out the majority of the translation, and it meant almost nothing.
The mall was closed for the night, and they seemed to be the only ones still there.
"The week is long, the silver cat feeds, when blue meets yellow in the west," they all read aloud from the whiteboard.
They decided to call it a night, so Kat shut the gate and locked it behind everyone. She slung her backpack over her shoulders and caught up with Steve, Dustin, and Robin.
"But it's too specific," Dustin argued as Kat came back into earshot. "It's obviously a code."
"A code?" Kat repeated, unconvinced.
"It could be a spy code," Dustin elaborated, his face lighting up in hope. "A super secret spy code."
Steve shook his head. "That's a total stretch."
"I don't know, is it?" Robin shrugged.
"You're buying into this?" Steve asked the girl.
Kat clicked her tongue. "For once, I agree with Steve. It feels like a stretch to me."
"Listen just for kicks, let's entertain the possibility that it is a secret Russian transmission," Robin started, already speaking really fast. "What'd you think they were gonna say, 'Fire the warhead at noon'? And my translation is correct. I know that for sure, so... 'The silver cat feeds,' why would anyone talk like that unless they're trying to mask the true meaning of their message. And why would anyone want to mask the true meaning of their message unless the message was somehow sensitive? So I guess that confirms your suspicion."
