˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗ Kat was sitting on the couch reading when Dustin came running into the living room like he was being chased.
"Son of a bitch! Son of a bitch!" he shouted, flipping up the couch cushions next to Kat. "Kat, move I need to look," Dustin said, barely giving Kat a moment before he pulled the cushion from under her.
He ran back into his room and started shouting through his walkie, then he ran out of the house and biked away.
It was a few minutes before Kat's mom spoke up. "Why don't you ever go out? You're always home."
Kat didn't look up from her book. She couldn't remember how many times they've had this conversation. "I do go out, you just don't notice I'm gone."
"I don't appreciate that tone, Katarina."
Kat got up from the couch, already fed up. "Then don't."

˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗ So far, junior year wasn't anything like Kat expected. Much to her dismay, Steve and Nancy seemed better than ever, and she never would've thought that she would become such good friends with Jonathan Byers.
As Kat, Nancy, and Jonathan were walking into school, one of Carol's friends, Tina, was handing out invitations for a Halloween party. She handed Kat and Nancy one, but skipped past Jonathan; she probably didn't even know his name.
Kat turned back. "Hey, can I get one more?"
"Yeah, sure." Tina handed her another bright orange paper.
As Kat caught up with Nancy and Jonathan, she put the paper in Jonathan's hands. "You're coming to this."
Jonathan held up the paper. "'Come and get sheet faced'," he read. "No, I'm not."
