˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗ "I talked to Steve today," Nancy told Kat as they were walking to fifth period.

"What'd he say?"

"He doesn't believe me. He said I should've talked to him."

Kat rolled her eyes, which she felt like she's been doing too often since Nancy's been with Steve. "If he doesn't believe you, then that's his problem."

Nancy took a bit to respond, it seemed like there was something else she wanted to say. "He told me to not mention we were drinking to the police."

If there weren't people behind her, Kat would've stopped dead in her tracks. "What? So he's telling you to lie to the police? For his own sake? Come on, don't listen to him."

Nancy shook her head back and forth. "No, I know. I'm not lying to the police."

They stopped in front of Kat's next class. Kat sharply nodded and patted Nancy's shoulder. "All right, good. See you later."

˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗ It was almost impossible to pay any attention to learning about the collapse of Roman civilization, or anything else besides Barb.

Kat had her eyes stuck to her desk, letting the words in her textbook start to go fuzzy.

She heard the door open and she looked up fast. Barb walked through the door, almost like she never left.

Kat blinked.

Suddenly, Barb turned into the principal. "Katarina Henderson?" Kat turned her head towards who was once Barb. "If you'll come with me, please?"

Kat ignored the giggles and the comments. She gathered her things and sped out of the classroom, Roman civilization immediately leaving her head, if it was ever even inside.
