˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗ Everyone was scattered around the Byers house, which was completely covered in drawings. They wrapped all the way around the house, over furniture, on the ceiling, all over the floor. It was hard to focus on anything else other than that.
Dustin and his friends were sitting around the kitchen table, Hopper was yelling to someone over the phone, Will was sleeping on the couch, his hair being stroked by Jonathan, Steve was going back and forth between the living room and the kitchen, and Kat was leaning on the kitchen counter, watching.
She watched Nancy attempt to comfort Jonathan, who was almost to tears. She watched Steve look at Nancy from the doorway, which made Kat wonder what he was thinking. She watched Hopper get slowly more red as he called a different number.
"I am the police! Chief Jim Hopper!" he shouted into the receiver, eventually slamming it back down on the wall.
"They didn't believe you, did they?" Dustin asked, but it wasn't really a question.
Hopper sighed in exasperation, pinching the bridge of his nose. "We'll see."
"'We'll see?' We can't just sit here while those things are loose!" Mike yelled, finally snapping.
"We stay here, and we wait for help," Hopper said sternly, then walked away.
Kat leaned her head back, feeling the weight on her shoulders.
Steve wandered over towards Kat again, taking long strides with his hands in the pockets of his jeans. "Hey," he muttered, copying Kat's position as he rested his elbows on the counter.
Kat's brows furrowed as she slowly turned her head. "Hi?"
He stared at the girl for a moment, he looked as though there were no thoughts in his head. Steve must've realized he had been staring, he started to stutter. "You, uh...Y—You seen Footloose?"
