˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗ The next day Kat, Nancy, and Barb were walking to class as usual. Barb was reading off of flashcards for Nancy; she'd been freaking out about the chemistry test they had.
"When alpha particles go through gold foil, they become..."
"Unoccupied space," Nancy answered immediately.
"Remind me how much you've studied for this test?" Kat asked, a coy smile on her face. "I think you'll pass, Nance."
Barb had started to read the next one, but a pair of hands took the cards away.
"Yeah, Nance, I think you've studied enough," the hands said, but it wasn't the hands. It was Steve Harrington. "I'm telling you, you know, you got this."
Kat bit her lip, she tried not to scowl at him and his posse, Tommy H. and Carol.
Tommy and Carol had been dating since seventh grade, so they were more known as one person. Instead of Tommy and Carol, it was TommyandCarol.
"On to more important matters," Steve continued, still holding the cards. "My dad has left town on a conference and my mom's gone with him, cause, you know, she doesn't trust him."
"Good call," Kat remarked, staring at Steve, hoping that he felt the hatred that was in her eyes.
Steve didn't acknowledge Kat, though. "So are you in?"
Nancy gave a confused smile. "In for what?"
"No parents? Big house?" the Carol half of TommyandCarol said, smacking her gum as usual.
"A party?" Nancy gave Steve a confused look. "It's Tuesday."
The Tommy half of TommyandCarol started to laugh, mockingly repeating Nancy and trying to get Steve to laugh to.
