˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗ It was almost one in the morning when Kat made through the gate, to the right side up.
Dustin had informed them that there were cops at the Wheeler house, and that they shouldn't go back. Alright, then. The closest place was Max's, so the whole group stayed there overnight.
Kat didn't speak much that night, since every time she opened her mouth to tell what happened, she just started crying all over again.
Once inside of Max's house, Kat went straight to the fridge, not taking another thought before pulling out a can of beer and taking a long sip. She leaned her head back, squeezing her eyes shut as the burning sensation trickled down her throat.
Steve stood in the kitchen doorway, visibly worried. "Are you alright?" he asked, although the answer was pretty clear to see.
Kat chuckled at the irony of the question. Of course she wasn't alright. She took another sip. "No, not really," Kat answered, new tears glossing over her eyes. She rested her elbows on the kitchen counter, covering her eyes with her face. "I am...not alright," Kat said, breathing out a large sigh.
Steve mimicked her, leaning against the counter. "Was he going to..." Steve trailed off, not wanting to speak the possibility.
Kat knew what he was trying to say. She took another sip from the can. "I don't know. It felt...different. He...he told me to..." Kat got quiet, her eyes rimmed with tears. She covered her face again, shaking her head.
Steve moved closer to Kat. "You don't have to talk about it now," he said softly, since everyone else was most likely eavesdropping on their conversation.
"Yeah," Kat answered blankly. She wasn't really there. The only thing she could think of was Vecna. "I'm gonna go to bed."
