˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗ The sun was fully set and the moon was high in the sky when Dustin suddenly stopped at the edge of Lover's Lake.

"This is confounding," Dustin said, looking between the compass and the lake.

"There's a gate in Lover's Lake?" Max asked as everyone caught up to Dustin.

"Whenever the Demogorgan attacked," Nancy said, "it always left an opening. Maybe Vecna's the same way."

Kat thought back to when she, Nancy, and Jonathan were hunting the Demogorgan in the woods. When the Demogorgan killed the deer, there was a gate directly where it died. If wherever Patrick died out on the lake, there should be a gate right there.

"Easy, easy," Steve sighed as him and Eddie dragged the small boat to the shore. "I said easy, man."

Eddie shrugged. "Sorry."

Robin was the first to get into the boat, denying Steve's offer of his hand and instead grasping the top of his head for stability. Then Kat went in. She threw her backpack to Robin before she grabbed Steve's hand as assistance. Eddie stood up, chivalrously holding his hand out for her with a bow.

When Dustin tried to step into the boat, Eddie quickly stopped him, pushing him back by his chest. "You trying to sink us, man? This thing holds four people tops, 'kay?"

Kat nodded in agreement, looking to Dustin's upset face. "It'll be better this way. You guys stay here with Max, and keep an eye out for trouble."

"You keep an eye out!"

"Sorry?"

"It's my goddamn theory!"
